Bradley Cooper has finally addressed the speculation surrounding a romance between him and Lady Gaga more than two years after the rumours began following their intimate performance at the 2019 Oscars.

Cooper and Gaga starred together in the 2018 hit film A Star is Born, in which she played Ally, a young undiscovered musician who found love and fame with Jack, (Cooper) a successful musician struggling with alcoholism and the downward spiral of his career.

While their on-screen chemistry was undeniable, fans were pretty surprised to see the pair giving an extremely intimate performance of the films's hit song, "Shallow", at the 2019 Academy Awards. Despite the fact that Cooper's then-girlfriend Irina Shayk was in the audience at the time, the romantic performance instantly sparked romance rumours, since Gaga had just split from fiancé Christian Carino reportedly just a few days prior.

However, Cooper has finally addressed the rumours once and for all, explaining that the intimacy of the performance was essentially just them in character, as a way to help him handle his fears of singing live.

"Just from a personal standpoint, it reduces the anxiety level," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "They kind of fall in love in that scene in the film. It's that explosive moment that happens to happen to them on a stage in front of thousands of people. … It would have been so weird if we were both on stools facing the audience."

Acting or not, sparks were most definitely flying.
