We had a delightful visit. The staff (Thomas) are incredibly knowledgeable. Interesting history and ruins, worth making the stop.

Absolutely brilliant gallery, museum learned so much history through so many periods but huge shout out to Mary for being a funny and interesting guide made it so much better to have Mary tell us everything but also let us roam as well. Also Thomas who took time to show us the beautiful saloon room. Can't recommend enough and if you like art its everywhere..

Great day out at Boda Borg.
The kids loved it and want to go back.
My only comment is that it’s all looking a bit dated. The information video at the start was copyright 2011 and it felt and looked that old, the room was also furnished from 2011. It needs something more modern.

Some of the quest rooms were also very dated. Some were better than others as ‘Mummy’ and ‘Pirates’ but most looked very old.

Shame there wasn’t any good Boda Borg merch for sale either. Just the tshirt and water bottles that looked like they also been in a cabinet since 2011.

That said the kids still had a great time and we would go back. The forest looks nice too and needs exploring.

I recently spent the weekend in Boyle but had not made too many plans for the trip. I was advised by locals to stop at Una Bhan and I am very grateful for that advice.
The staff were welcoming and friendly, Anna was able to direct me to Lough Key and provided me with a map of the walking trails alongside some local knowledge of the park and some of its history.
I was also delighted to learn about the history of King House, which was right across from the shop, as Anna had so much insight about this also.
I will definitely be returning on my next trip this side of the country.

Amazing Roadside Sculpture that we stopped at to take photos. I wish there had been more information as to what the sculpture represented but it is worth stopping at for pictures and a good break on the drive to county Sligo.

We visited Castlestrange Stone. A large boulder with carvings used for various pagan rituals dating over 2000 years. We drove right up to beside the stone. After some pictures, we had a quick lunch in the car. Stop here if you are in the area.

Standing next to the tomb and looking down over the valley you can still feel the power and majesty emanating from within. Awesome!

This is a lovely castle that time seems to have forgot. Worked started but has stopped. We seen this castle while on a boat in lough key and rowed over for a visit.

Boyle library is most useful for me in undertaking historic research on whet happened in Roscommon almost 200 years ago. the newspaper archive is invaluable and is easily used. The staff are friendly and are on hand at all times to assist with technical matters in accessing their computers.
    the room is beautifully vaulted.

There are a variety of gate lodges- gothic, classical, hexagonal etc. from the coffee shop to the gate lodges varies from about 1 km to about 4km. I drove to several gate lodges- only because I didn’t have time to walk. It would be useful to check NIAH or a map to find the locations.

Although we had been to King House before we had never been to what is known as the Pleasure Grounds - originally for the private use of the King family. In the Pleasure Grounds are the remains of the monument to William 111 (William of Orange) It was worth going for the history, but the grounds (park) could have done with a bit of a tidy up.
