Blake Shelton recently posted a video of him doing the line dance for his latest song, “No Body.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t actually him dancing.

The nostalgic music video that was released alongside his new single featured Shelton standing on the stage of the old-timey bar with neon signs behind him and line dancing in the center of the room. The iconic mullet and cowboy hat of his early career were also recreated for the video.

In one of his most recent Instagram posts, Shelton’s throwback look makes a return while he dances along to his song, but something seems off about it. The “God’s Country” singer later disclosed that he was actually filming a clip for the hilarious eCards by the company, JibJab. This means that it was his head dancing along to the beat, but someone else’s body taking on the line dance steps.

“I’m a little uncomfortable giving away my secrets, but I know this will come to a shock to you guys, it’s not really me dancing,” he shared in the behind-the-scenes preview.

The process to create this illusion involved a full green screen behind the singer along with a green garment wrapped around his neck and shoulders to capture just the movement of his head and facial expressions.

He then shared snippet of what the final JibJab product will look like, adding the caption, “I call this the #ShufflinShelton. You’re welcome.”

JibJab offers custom video eCards to share with family and friends. Instead of having the artist be the center of the video, there’s an option to replace their head with a photo of your choice. The site offers the option to place yourself in music videos for artists like Luke Bryan, Shania Twain, Billy Ray Cyrus and more.

In 2020, Bryan joined in on the fun and celebrated Cinco De Mayo by creating an animated JibJab for his catchy song, “One Margarita.” The best part was, he superimposed his mom’s head over his own in the beach-themed video making for a very entertaining recreation.

Shelton’s latest release follows his 2021 single, “Come Back as a Country Boy,” which is featured on the deluxe version of the full project released that year, Body Language.

On Monday, September 19, he and his wife Gwen Stefani will return to the singing competition show, The Voice, as coaches for Season 22. Joining them will be John Legend and new coach Camila Cabello. The show will air this fall on NBC Mondays from 8-10 p.m. ET and Tuesdays from 8-9 p.m. ET.
