Address
Neighborhood: Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.

One of London's largest green squares with a fine collection of plane trees around its perimeter, said to be the oldest in London planted in 1789, it is a popular space for local workers to enjoy, relax, sit and have lunch. It is also used for occasional event such as art fairs when marquees are installed at the northern end.

The buildings around it are full of art galleries, car showrooms, offices, restaurants, clubs and Phillips Auction House. This is one of the green hearts of Mayfair and I enjoy having lunch here with food bought in one of the local takeaways.

Sadly, you do not hear any nightingales here these days, but it is a delightful space in the heart of Mayfair and is used for occasional scuplture to compliment the 19th century fountain, the current one being the enormous hare 'Crawling' by Sophie Ryder.

Berkeley Square is a lovely oval shaped park with London Plane Trees in Mayfair in London W1. It was laid out, extending further south, in the mid 18th century by the architect William Kent. There are a good number of benches available upon which to sit and read a book or to just take 5 minutes green rest in the City of Westminster. The park is surrounded by some beautiful house, many of which have been (are) homes to the rich and famous. There is an unusual English Heritage 'Blue Plaque' on the shelter in the centre of the square which I can only assume is something to do with the Earth's rising waterline due to climate change (See photo). In summary a nice park in a very pleasant upmarket part of the City.

After a day walking round Central London it's good to find somewhere to chill out. Berkeley Square has plenty of benches to sit upon and rest before you go on to the next part of your day.

It's not too far from Regents Street and Bond Stree in one direction, Park Lane in the opposite direction and Oxford Street in the North.

Worth checking out if you are in the area.

There are many squares in London, but Berkley Square is one of the best-known. Many famous people, real and fictional, have had their residences here. Amongst other things, the song "A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square" is renowned for its sentimentality. The Square is not ostentatious, but the London Plane Trees are old and well-grown. They were planed in 1789, the year of the French Revolution. Berkley Square is in Mayfair, these days most of the Square is occupied by offices. I spent some time here, there environment is relaxing.

I own a beautiful Armoire from BERKLEY QUARE Antique. It was one of the loviest memories of my time in London . It has changed over time, and with renovation even lovelier !

Unlike anything else I had seen in my bus tour - most statues have been men on horseback. This was a pleasant surprise.

A petite, magical park in the middle of a affluent district makes this the perfect rendez vous venue for a working Londoner!

I am impressed that such an interesting square is located in central London. Quiet, peaceful and around you can see amazing architecture. The name of the square was taken from Berkeley House, the London residence of the Berkeley family. You can find impressive nineteenth-century classicist architecture around.
