If you are considering going on a trip to the Dominican Republic, you should definitely consider Bayahibe as a place to visit. There are so many things to do here: you can take a tour boat to nearby locations, scuba dive or just relax on the beautiful, soft beaches, while watching the tour boats coming back, and much more.

This is one of the many places in the Dominican Republic where you can choose not only the peace and tranquility of a relaxing beach, but also the excitement of a breathtaking tour to fascinating places, such as the island of Saona.

Those who were lucky enough to experience the beauty of places like this during their vacations, often don't want to leave anymore; and you can't blame them: the island has become extremely popular, attracting more and more tourists and wildlife enthusiasts from across the entire world each season.

Bayahibe is, first of all, a unique location. It is basically a small fishing village with many beautifully colored houses and a resplendent view depicting the entire majesty of the Caribbean Sea.

Here, you can enjoy the wild, natural beauty of the environment without lacking in comfort. The 4 and 5 star resorts can offer the best in terms of comfort and entertainment, and the friendly hosts will make sure that each and every moment you spend at the village will be worthwhile.

Also, the entire bay of Bayahibe is completely refurbished not long ago. Palm trees and grass areas were added, and, at night, the entire bay is lit up so that anybody can enjoy the beauty of a quiet, romantic walk.

The tourists who visit Bayahibe often take the time to explore the neighboring areas and cities as well. The unique position of the fishing village offers them the possibility to do just that, without spending too much time on a transfer.

The most popular destination for boat excursions is the island of Saona. Fishermen may offer to take you there, but you do not want to miss taking a ride in one of the impressive catamarans fitted with all the conveniences you may require.

The catamaran trip to Saona Island takes about 90 minutes. You can leave from Bayahibe in the morning, around 9:30, and be back by 4:30 in the afternoon. You also get an "all you can eat" buffet, beer and soft drinks, as well as entertainment.

Once you reach the island, Saona will be simply mesmerizing. It is a beautiful place where you can just relax completely, and forget about all your worries on the soft beach, or get a snorkel and explore the shallow waters, catching a glimpse of the magnificent flora and fauna.

There are many companies that provide boat tours to the island, as well as to other important and interesting close by locations, and with a bit of research, you can easily find the very best of them. SeavisTours for example is based in Bayahibe and voted by the readers of Tripadvisor.com as the best tour operator in the Dominican Republic.

Bayahibe is the port to the National Parc del Este

... and the Jungle on your doorsteps..

bayahibe jungle experience

Of course, Bayahibe is not just a stop that people use to get to the surrounding islands. There are numerous activities that you can do on land also, Bayahibe borders the National Park del Este, the most visited National Park in the Dominican Republic.

The National Park and the surrounding areas contain typically dry tropical forests. On the banks of the Rio Chavon the most Northern rainforests in the world can be found. This is true wilderness and it has been discovered by the hollywood film makers: Jurassic Park, Rambo3, Apocalypse Now and Anaconda were filmed here....

The park itself has an extensive area of dry tropical jungle with amazing sandstone formations and deep caves. Plant life enthusiasts may also be interested in exploring an unique type of flower endemic to this area: the Pereskia quisqueyana. Apart from its botanical importance, the flower is also beautiful to look at, its delightful pink shade earning it the name of the "Bayahibe Rose".

One thing you can be sure of: there is definitely much more to Bayahibe than many people suspect, and, should you decide to take a journey to this enchanting location, you will certainly not regret even a second of it.
