– To mark film director Quentin Tarantino’s 60th birthday yesterday, Titan Comics announced “Quentin by Tarantino,” a graphic biography by French cartoonist Amazing Améziane. The 228-page book will chronicle Tarantino’s life “from his humble beginnings in a video store, to crafting his indie blockbusters of the ‘90s which started a revolution in cinema and catapulted the fearless young director to international stardom.” It will be released on October 17, 2023.

– Titan also announced “Underground: Cursed Rockers and High Priestesses of Sound,” an overview of the lives of various indie musicians, by writer Arnaud Le Gouëfflec and artist Nicolas Moog. Subjects will include Daniel Johnston, Yma Sumac, Moondog, the Cramps, and Patti Smith. It will precede “Quentin by Tarantino” on September 26.

– This weekend at WonderCon, it was revealed Tom King and Mitch Gerads’s upcoming “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” arc will portray the post-‘New 52’ iteration of Batman’s first battle with the Joker. Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s ‘Batman: Year Zero’ portrayed the pair’s first clash back in 2013, but only while the villain was still the Red Hood. Previous versions of their first battle were portrayed in the 2005 one-shot “Batman: The Man Who Laughs,” and 2007’s “Batman Confidential” arc ‘Lovers & Madmen.’ The new “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” kicks off on May 16.

Variety reports Liv Tyler will return as Betty Ross in Captain America: New World Order, which will mark the first time she has played the role since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. She is the second Incredible Hulk cast member to return for the film, after Tim Blake Nelson, whose character Samuel Sterns will become the villainous Leader. The film, due out May 3, 2024, will also see Harrison Ford take over from the late William Hurt as Betty’s father, the newly elected President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

– Disney Junior released three shorts from the upcoming series Young Jedi Adventures, introducing the heroes of the younger-skewing Star Wars cartoon. You can check out the shorts via the playlist on YouTube here. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, which follows a group of Jedi younglings during the High Republic era, about 500 to 100 years before the original film, will premiere on Disney Junior and Disney+ on Thursday, May the Fourth.

Publishers Weekly reports IDW will publish “Finishing School,” the debut graphic novel of writer Casey Gilly (“Buffy the Last Vampire Slayer”), featuring art by Rye Hickman. Planned for 2027, the horror book takes place at Belthorne Academy, a school for final girls, which teaches them to hone the skills they’ve gathered from their experiences surviving the supernatural.

PW also shared First Second Books will release “You Belong Here,” a young adult graphic novel by DC graphic novel editor Sara Phoebe Miller, and artist Morgan Beem (“Crashing”), edited by Steve Foxe. The book follows Essie Rosen, a teenager dealing with boy problems, applying for college, and finding herself during senior year. It will be released sometime next year.

– Finally, PW reported First Second will publish “Don’t Be Scared,” a middle-grade book by novelist Saadia Faruqi (the Yasmin! series) and artist Shadia Amin (“Spider-Ham”). Due out in 2025, it follows a budding young Pakistani American filmmaker making a movie about a local haunted house. It will follow Faruqi’s first graphic novel, “Saving Sunshine” (drawn by Shazleen Khan), due out from First Second on September 5.
