It's weird to think that there was a time when Bangkok Dangerous was kind of a big deal. It turned the directors, the Pang brothers, into stars, gave a huge boost to the Thai film industry's worldwide visibility, and spawned a little liked remake starring Nic Cage.
Maybe the disappointment of that remake, or Oxide and Danny Pang's subsequent careers, has tarnished its rep. Or maybe it wasn't all that great to begin with? There's a surfeit of style here, with zooms, freeze frames, slo-mo and Dutch angles aplenty.
