Lala Lajpat Rai Birth Anniversary: Here's a glimpse of his life and a few of his motivational quotationsTIMESOFINDIA.COM
January 28 marks the birth anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai. Born in the year 1865, in Punjab, he was a paramount name in the Indian freedom struggle against British colonial rule.

He was affectionately known as "Punjab Kesari" which roughly translates to the Lion of Punjab or ‘Punjab Da Sher’. He was an extremist by political lineage and was a part of the famous trinity of "Lal, Bal and Pal" alongside Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal.

He was an avid part of the Swadeshi Movement and a vehement critique of using the goods that were imported from the West. He promulgated the message of using indigenous products as it gives a major boost to the local economy and increases self-reliance.

He also founded the "Servants of the People Society" in Lahore in the year 1921. He even served as the President of the Indian National Congress commencing from the year 1920.

Lala Lajpat Rai, apart from being a crucial voice in the Indian freedom movement, was also an eloquent speaker. He voiced his ideas in several quotations that would instil the audience with a huge wave of motivation. So, here are some of his best motivational quotes:

He once quoted that if he had the power to influence mainstream journalists and newspapers then he would ask them to put headlines like 'Milk for Infants, Food for Adults and Education for All' on the title page.

He was once subjected to brutal beating by the commands of the British government. To that, he said that the British government has no right to call itself a 'civilised government' as it invokes a sense of terror by conducting such acts, that too on its own subjects. He even warned the British government that the blows that he faced were the 'last nails in the coffin of British rule in India'.

He even worked for the emancipation of the dilapidated sections of society by quoting that it was a moral responsibility of the common folk and the authorities to elevate the depressed classes to ensure equitable development and progress of the people and ultimately of the nation.
