Audrey Elizabeth Callaghan, née Moulton; 28 July 1913 – 15 March 2005 was a Labour Party politician and advocate for children's rights. , wife of the Prime Minister She married James Callaghan in 1938. He was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1976 to 1979.
Born in Maidstone, Kent. She studied home economics at Battersea Polytechnic Institute and economics at the University of London.
The family settled in the Blackheath area of Lewisham. In 1952 she unsuccessfully stood for election to the London County Council to represent Lewisham North. The Lewisham North seat was marginal and in 1958 she was elected but in the following election in 1961 she was defeated by a Conservative Party opponent.
When the Greater London Council was formed to replace the London County Council she was made an alderman, holding her seat until 1970.
She was Chairman of the Board of Governors of Great Ormond Street Hospital from 1969-1982.
