Ariarne Titmus is one of the world's greatest ever female middle-distance swimmers.
The Tasmanian first put the world on notice of her talent in December 2018 with a new women's short course 400m freestyle world record (3:53:92).
She made more headlines at the 2019 long course world championships in Gwangju with victory over USA star Katie Ledecky to become the 400m free world champion. Titmus added a silver medal in the 200m free and bronze in the 800m free, before joining up with Madison Wilson, Brianna Throssell, and Emma McKeon to win the women's 4x200m title with a new world record.
With expectations at an all time high going into the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Titmus delivered in style. In what was a much-hyped rematch, she pipped Ledecky to 400m freestyle gold with a new Olympic record of 1:53:50.
Titmus then added a second gold in the 200m free with a magnificent late overtake of Siobhan Haughey, before settling for silver in the 800m free behind Ledecky.
At the 2022 Australian Swimming Championships, Titmus set a new 400m freestyle world record with a time of 3:56:40, breaking Ledecky's former mark set at Rio 2016 by +0.6s.
