We attended an overnight wine tasting, meal and stay at this splendid winery, close to Timisoara, in Transylvania. The winery is equipped with several tasting/banquet rooms, serving excellent wines paired with delicious local dishes. All was topnotch. Guests then have the option of staying at the winery - highly recommended. If you happen to be in this part of Romania, do make an effort to experience this winery.

The County Library of Arad is the successor of the City Library of Arad founded in 1881 by the Kolcsey Association. The first public libraries appeared in Arad as early as 1850 - one at the Hotel Crucea Albă (Feher Kereszt) - today Ardealul with a book collection of 30,000 volumes and another on Deak Ferenc Street (today Mihai Eminescu) with a book collection of 90,000 volumes. The County Library of Arad moved to its present location in 1981. The building was built in 1909 according to the design of the architects Reisinger Sandor & Fodor Zsigmond and originally housed the headquarters of the Agricultural Chamber of Arad. The same architectural office from Arad also designed the old Central Hotel on Revolution Boulevard (today the headquarters of Intesa SanPaolo Bank), the Nadasdy Palace on Avram Iancu Square, the administrative headquarters of the MARTA car factory in Arad and the central building of the former Franz Joseph University in Cluj.
The County Library of Arad has today a book collection of more than 500,000 volumes of which 22,000 books belong to the special collections (published in Latin, Hungarian, French, German, Romanian, Italian, English, Greek, Hebrew), more than 600 manuscripts and 23 incunabula.

On the second floor of the building you can visit the permanent and temporary exhibitions of the Art Museum of Arad, and on the ground floor of the building in the wing on Horia Street you can visit the Clio Art Gallery.

We recommend 5 books in English and 5 books in Italian from which you can learn the history of Arad. Although they are written in an accessible language, they are nevertheless works of a scientific nature and contain numerous details, many of them published for the first time (all available on Google Books/Google Play and on Amazon-in print):

For some reason, the impressive interior went right to my heart. Its quite sober décor and pure architecture exceeded my expectations.

Take a walk in the evening or during a sunny day along the river, staying carefully our of the bicycle path. Of course, one can simply ride a bicycle as well and feel at home in this long park by the water.

We visited this unique romanian museum on saturday when the majority of the attractions in Arad are closed. Spent 1 hr being fascinated about all the computers and laptops from 10, 20 30 and 40 years ago (neither large IT universities in Romania could bot gather such a nice collection). Got some very nice souvenirs: calendars and mini IT boards as key chains. The person founding the museum from his personal money is definitely a passionate IT fan and he wants to further developp the museum. The bookings for visit (free entrance) can be prior made through phone or facebook page very easy.

the avram iancu square behind the theater hosts the liberty statue as well as a lot of pigeons that welcome you and enjoy if you feed them. You find there place of sitting, banquets for rest and admire nice buildings arround.

Was honored to attend the premiere performance of Take, Ianke and Cadir. It will now be closed for the rest of the summer for restoration but will open again in the fall. If you want to see a truly grand, small theatre - where there is no "bad seat in the house", you must visit here.

Its name, of course, is driven by the red-briked walls. It is one of Arad's attractions, with its unussual architecture and colour.

I recommend you visit this bridge at night, because it is very nice lighting. During the day, the bridge is crossed by the trams, so it is quite crowded. In addition, at one end of the bridge you will see an old building that was a customs point between the two parts of the city of Arad
