Anthropoid completes its mission rather unevenly but delivers a historically illuminating story with great performances to back it up.

Jeffrey P Difficult to understand dialect in a dialogue heavy film, bland to look at, not much happens. Ending saved it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/25/24 Full Review Sarah B I had never heard of this movie - I came upon it 8 years after it came out. It's an excellent movie and really important these people's immense sacrifices be illuminated. It especially illuminates the horrible sacrifices made by people who sheltered resistance members. They and their talented, beautiful, innocent children were brutally and sadistically tortured to death by the Germans. It wasn't a huge box office success but it will stand the test of time better than many of the more "successful" movies of 2016. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/24 Full Review Aaron R A beautiful depiction of the heroism of soldiers and civilians and their sacrifices to stand up to evil during one of the most horrific times in our history. The humanity of and vulnerability of each character is profound and moving throughout. The cinematography and original score makes the picture all the more heartbreaking and powerful. Highly underrated movie made on a small budget. Great example of how far talent and heart can take a movie without a big budget. If the movie doesn't break your heart you should see somebody Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review donnie m this movie shows just how many INNOCENT people died because men can't talk things out but instead-want to play war-it makes me sick and it's still going on and has been since the beginning of time. i don't like the actor named Cillian Murphy except in the 'very last' scene and it would have been more realistic if everyone hadn't had clean, ironed clothes on and perfect hair Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review Yani A Historical. It's very intense movie based on true story. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review Scott H Solid performances, sad story. Danny Leigh Financial Times In its final half-hour, it soars. Rated: 3/5 Dec 28, 2016 Full Review Kate Muir Times (UK) Cillian Murphy, Jamie Dornan and Toby Jones star in the Second World War-set Anthropoid. Rated: 3/5 Oct 10, 2016 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times This smart, grown-up drama is one of those films that seems happier to start a conversation, rather than having the last word. Rated: 4/5 Sep 12, 2016 Full Review Michael Clark Epoch Times Usually I’m partial to the “less is more” approach to storytelling, but the details surrounding Heydrich and his assassination are worthy of further exploration. A three or four-part cable mini-series would do the trick. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 11, 2024 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand Even the romantic subplots, which might appear a gratuitous distraction, are less about passion than desperation; when there's no escape plan in place, life is lived in moments. Oct 28, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “Anthropoid” is refreshingly earnest and subtle. It has confidence in the compelling strength of its story and feels no need to embellish it or the characters. Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 19, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews
