Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards Claims He'll Be the NBA's Best Player in "About Two to Three Years"

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards does not lack confidence—that's for sure.

Since his rookie year in 2021, Edwards has gained a reputation for brashness and charisma to go along with his prodigious talents. When he starred as a talkative American draft prospect with Adam Sandler in Hustle in 2022, the joke went, he didn't even have to act.

Four years into his career, Edwards has a full complement of talent to back up his self-image. On Thursday afternoon, he shared with ESPN just how much he thought he could improve in the near future.

"I'm just in year four, man. I think people forget that I'm 22," Edwards said on NBA Today. "I'm not even touching my prime yet."

In year four, Edwards averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game on the second-best team in Timberwolves' history by winning percentage.

Upon receiving the suggestion that he could be the league's best player soon, Edwards fully agreed.

"Yeah, I 100% agree with you," Edwards said. "In about two or three years, yep."
