Trisha Lynn Gregory


     Trisha Lynn Gregory, 58, of Sutton WV passed away peacefully early Monday morning May 6, 2024 in her home surrounded by loving family and friends.

     She was born October 27, 1965 in Lansing, Michigan, but spent the majority of her life in Braxton County, WV. She was the daughter of Opal Dodrill (McCourt) and the late Doyle McCourt. She is also preceded in death by her late husband, Steven Ray Gregory and loving grandparents.

    She was a graduate of Braxton County High School in 1983. She then went on to receive a degree in Education from Glenville State College and completed her Master’s at Marshall University. She was a beloved teacher for over 25 years and touched many lives within the school system and the community. She was a positive, bright, and cheerful woman, was always willing to help anyone in need, and would go beyond measures for family and friends. Not a day went by that she was not dancing and singing. She enjoyed walking, hiking, cooking, baking, gardening, traveling, and most of all spending time with family and friends. She was a member of several organizations in the area, some including Centralia Methodist Church and Judy’s Garden Club.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her loving mother, Opal Dodrill (Sherman); daughters, Kyla Gregory (Lee Davis) and Amy Gregory; grandchildren, Kinleigh Mace and Cohen Meier; sisters, Cheryl Goodnight (Rick), Mary Lesley (Greg); brother, Bernie McCourt (Janet); nieces, nephews, as well as many other family and close friends.     

     Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home in Sutton, WV with Rev Rich Demastus officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Ridge Cemetery, Sutton. Friends may call 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. 

    Special thanks go to her close, devoted friends, Rebecca Denuzzo, Rachel Barrow, and Pat McPherson who were by her side through several of life’s challenges. We plan to honor her memory by continuing to educate and encouraging children to read, as she always did. So, in lieu of flowers, we are welcoming donations to help fund some local community Book Outreach projects in her name. Donations can be made to City National Bank to the account of “Trisha Gregory’s Continuing to Educate” fund.

James Robert "Bob" Riffle


           James Robert “Bob” Riffle, 89, of Sutton, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV.

           He was born October 16, 1934 in Little Birch, WV to the late Samuel and Daisy Bell Claypool Riffle. Also preceding him in death were two sisters Helen Elswick and Daisy Shafer, and a brother Samuel Riffle, Jr.     

Bob was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service, Braxton County School Bus Driver for 30 years, a Police Officer for the Town of Sutton and several years ago worked as an ambulance driver for Greene-Robertson Funeral Home. He was also a member of the Bug Ridge Community Church.

           Left to cherish his memories are his wife Beulah Mae Rhodes Riffle, brothers, Kenneth Riffle of Sutton, WV, Sister Shirley Squires of Sutton, WV and several nieces and nephews.             

Funeral services were held 1pm, Monday, May 6, 2024 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Pastor Earl Cayton and Pastor Richard Propst officiating. Burial followed at Bill Rose Cemetery, Bays, WV. Friends called from 11:30 to 1pm at the funeral home.

Linda Mae Richardson


      Linda Mae Richardson, 73, of Sutton passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Braxton County Healthcare Center.

     Linda was born September 30, 1950 in Richwood, WV, the daughter of the late James Arthur and Ida Mae Houghton Harris. In addition to her late parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hurl Richardson, Jr. 

     Linda enjoyed being a homemaker.

     She is survived by her step sons, Randy Richardson of Reedsville, WV and Tim Richardson of Frametown, WV and a sister, Donna J. Sykes of NC. Grandchildren, Zach Richardson, Ashlee Richardson, Timothy Richardson, Casey Hamner, Lilly Richardson, Mike Richardson, Randall Richardson. Great grandchildren, Logan Richardson and Zade Richardson.

      Memorial services were held 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Walnut Grove Methodist Church, Strange Creek, WV.

Leonard D. Frame


   Leonard D Frame, 71 of Sutton, WV entered peacefully into his eternal rest on April 23, 2024.

    He was born December 20, 1952, to the late Lloyd, sr. and Ida Bender Frame. Also preceding him in death are brothers, Wordie and Bob Frame, 3 nephews and 3 nieces, in addition to his best friend, Steve Kniceley.

    He is survived by brothers, Gene of Orange Springs, FL; Lloyd Jr (Bessie) of Rupert, WV; Charlie of Upper Tract, WV; Bernard and William (Mary) of Sutton, WV and Jim of Exchange, WV. Sisters, Norma Jean Thomas of Flatwoods, WV; Betty Bankhead of Pompano Beach, FL. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, he leaves behind the family of Steve Kniceley (daughter, Melissa Marshall, grandson, Randy Lee and son, Randy) who cherished Leonard dearly and honored Steve’s wishes of caring for Leonard after his passing.

    Leonard was a kind and unique individual. He preferred a simple life to which he simply could not be wavered from. He will be greatly missed. In honoring Leonard’s wishes he will be cremated, and a family service will beheld at a later date. His final resting place will be beside his mother.

Julia Rae Tucker


     Julia Rae (Ward) Tucker was born on May 16, 1988. She was loved from the start by many who have since passed, including Ninnie- Pertie Perkins, Grandpa- Raymond Phillips, Papaw- Carl Hinkle and Grandma- Charlotte Hyre.

     She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Kevin) Kopeck of Winfield, WV, Derek Ray Hyre of Buckhannon, WV. She was engaged to the love of her life Travis Paxton and together they created a perfect daughter Kennedy Ann Paxton, whom Julie adored.

     She has four sisters, Emily (Tanner) Wolfe of Scott Depot, WV, Hope Koon of Cross Lanes, WV, and Rebel and Cheyenne Hyre of Myrtle Beach, SC. Julie truly loved her nephews, Dylan, Jaxon, Benson, Keelean, and Zander and niece, Willa.

     Julie is immensely loved by her grandparents, Barbara Perkins of Summersville, WV, Don Ross of Belington, WV, Keith (Brenda) Ward of Payson, AZ, Barbara Hinkle of Buckhannon, WV, Alma Kopeck of Santa Cruz, CA, and her great-grandmother Catherine Phillips of Buckhannon, WV. Julie is blessed to have many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who she loved with all of her heart.

     Julie was a 2006 graduate of Winfield High School where she was a majorette and the life of every party. Julie loved the Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Ravens, WVU Mountaineers, 90’s country music, bonfires, hoodies, mowing grass, barns, turkey sandwiches, Batman and black coffee. Julie was quick-witted, strong-willed and you always knew where you stood with her. She loved hard, lived fierce and was the most amazing mom to baby Kennedy. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

     Friends and family called from 11:30 to 1:00 with the Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Johnson officiating.

E Paul Robinson


     E. Paul Robinson, 89, of Sutton passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, WV.

     Paul was born November 29, 1934 in Replete, WV, the son of the late, Hoy S & Ada Hudkins Robinson. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Virginia Robinson.

     He worked as a construction worker and a member of Union 01, Operating Engineer for Local #132, a graduate of Sutton High School class of 1952, and a Navy Veteran of Korean War.

     Paul is survived by his son, Curtis Paul Robinson of Sutton, WV; daughters, Dawn Shaver of Charleston, WV, Cindy Shuman (Chris) of Gassaway, WV, Pam Larew (David) of Grafton, WV; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

     Upon request the body will be cremated.

Donnie Lew Bosely


     Donnie Lew Bosely, 62, of Sutton, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Seneca Trail Healthcare Center, Lewisburg, WV.

     He was born December 24, 1961 in Sutton, WV, the son of the late, Robert Lee & Glenna Algene Brown Bosely. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Danny Bosely; sister, Debbie Ferguson.

     Donnie worked as a short order cook and a caregiver.

     He is survived by his brother, Ronnie Bosely and several nieces and nephews in Ohio.

     A private service was held at Falls Mill Cemetery, Falls Mill, WV.

Mildred Jean Barnett


     Mildred Jean Barnett, 85, of Sutton, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at WV Caring Hospice Center, Elkins, WV.

      Mildred was born May 30, 1938 in Little Birch, WV, the daughter of the late Richard & Etta Crites Clifton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Paul Barnett; daughter, Donna Barnett; sisters, Opal Bailey, Lola Facemire, Juanita Hoover, Myrl Cunningham; brothers, Charley Clifton, Harry Clifton, Edgar Clifton, Robert Clifton.

     She is survived by sons, Ricky L Barnett (Deborah), Danny Barnett both of Sutton; brothers, Doy Clifton of Sutton, Eugene Clifton of Little Birch; grandchildren, Calvin Barnett, Derick Barnett, Vanessa Barnett, Sierra Groff; great grandchildren, Gabriella Groff, Heath Groff, Kashton Groff.

     Funeral services were held 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev Jim Burroughs officiating. Burial followed at Braxton Memorial Cemetery, Airport Rd. Sutton, WV. Friends called 11:30 till time of service at the funeral home.

Barry Neil Hamner


     Barry Neil Hamner, 52, of Summersville, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

     He was born in Gassaway, WV on December 11, 1971 the son of Denzil Junior Hamner and Lucy Campbell Johnson.

     Barry is survived by his father, Denzil “Bud” Hamner of Newville; mother, Lucy Johnson (Arthur) of KS; son, Chase Hamner of NC; daughters, Kayla Hamner-Carpenter (Eric) of Summersville, Brooke Hamner and Bridget Hamner both of NC; sister, Tina Knight (Jonathon) of Sutton; grandsons who lived with Barry, Anthony Hamner and Maddox Carpenter, and 8 other grandchildren.   

     Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Eric Veltre officiating. Burial followed at Newville Cemetery, Newville, WV. Friends called 11:30 am till time of service at the funeral home.

Dotty Freeman Smith


     Dotty Freeman Smith, 79, of Little Birch, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Braxton Healthcare Center, Sutton.

     She was born in Wharton, WV on August 26, 1944, the daughter of the late Sennett & Opal Hamrick Parker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Warner Freeman; brothers, Roger Parker, James Parker; sister, Joyce Fugate; several brothers and sisters in the Lord.

    Dotty was a homemaker and a member of Little Birch Southern Baptist Church.

    She is survived by her son, Richard W Smith of Urbana, OH; daughters, Debbrah Smith Marshall (Robert) of Little Birch, Tammy Smith McNeely (Sammy) of Mammoth, WV; step son, James Armstrong of Sutton; sisters, Paula Cordle of Westerville, OH, Patricia King of Charleston, WV, Judy Austin of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Ryan James Smith (Kia), Britney Humphreys (Ryan), Cara Marshall Holmes (Chad); great grandchildren, Kaiden Humphreys, Kolten Humpheys, Parker Smith, Alexandria Archilla; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

     Funeral services were held 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev Randall Griggs officiating. Burial followed at Braxton Memorial Cemetery, Sutton, WV. Friends called 11:30 to 1:00 pm, at the funeral home.

Laura June Kimmel


      Laura June Kimmel, 58, of Nebo, WV passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at her residence.

      She was born May 28, 1965 in New Jersey, the daughter of Richard Thomas Kimmel & the late June Abernathey Kimmel.

     Laura is survived by her son, Johnathon Kimmel of Reading, PA; brothers, Richard Kimmel and Christopher Kimmel both of Clifton Heights, PA; sisters, Ilene Mazzatenta and Carolyn McKnight both of Clifton Heights, PA, Jennifer Langley of Dublin, Ireland.

     Upon request the body will be cremated.
