We stayed at Bar Harbor Inn right along the ocean for a splendid week. It was such a beautiful place to watch the sun rise and set over the Frenchman Bay, plus the view of the Porcupine Islands in the distance, birds migrating, and fish jumping from the water made it all the more picturesque. Our time spent here was utterly splendid, and from the fantastic location to the comoplimentary food and beverages, everything was splendid! Here’s why you should consider staying at Bar Harbor Inn’s Oceanfront Lodge on your next visit to Bar Harbor, Maine!

What I Wore Exploring Acadia National Park
We returned to Acadia National Park to hike, explore new sections, and enjoy the solar eclipse. While I wore something entirely different when I went hiking, I wore this as we hopped in and out of the Benz to explore the national park’s natural beauty. It was early April during our visit, and it was warm in the sun but chilly in the shade and quite cold (below freezing) at night. This was a cozy outfit, and even though I wore six layers, I was never too hot or cold.
Side Street Café in Bar Harbor, ME
Our third visit to Bar Harbor introduced us to our new favorite restaurant in the city. They had an extensive menu representative of local specialties and an abundance of gluten-free options, from pasta and lobster rolls to salads, soups, and desserts. They were able to make anything I inquired about gluten-free, and I felt like they took my allergy very seriously. Read on to see more of our meal at Side Street Café in Bar Harbor, ME, and learn why we went back more than once!
Sunday Stack Volume 7
This week, we had dinner with two of our friends and had a wonderful time trying a new restaurant up near them. I’ll write all about it and all of the awards that the restaurant has won, but for now, here’s the 411 on what I wore to dinner. While all of these pieces are things I’ve worn before, they’re dialed up to 10 with elegance and simplicity that earned me numerous compliments at dinner and the errands we ran beforehand. Here’s Sunday Stack Volume 7!
Watching the Total Solar Eclipse Atop Cadillac Mountain
I prefer to go the extra mile. In this case, I went 12 extra miles to the summit of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park because all roads were closed for winter. That didn’t stop us from hiking all that way on a gorgeously sunny day to watch the solar eclipse, which was around 98% totality. Throughout our hike up the mountain, we only passed a dozen other people (but plenty of wildlife), which made the entire experience feel even more surreal. My unedited photos show how dark it grew during the eclipse as we watched the total solar eclipse atop Cadillac Mountain on Monday, April 8th, 2024.

Ancient Relics
I love jewelry and accessories that look like they tumbled straight out of an ancient mosaic or Hellenistic work of art. If I’m going to adorn myself with something extra special, I want it to look like something I plucked up from a museum display rather than something one could snag at a shopping mall. That’s why I choose objet d’arts with weathered textures, intricate details, unexpected motifs, and classically inspired vibes – usually in gold.
San Diego Botanicals
These are a few of my favorite botanical shots from San Diego, California. As always, prints are available in my photography portfolio. Natural beauty is all around us. It’s worth slowing down to look around us. If you’re interested in conservation efforts near you, check out The Nature Conservancy for ways to donate, volunteer with your local city beautification committee, or plant native trees, shrubs, and flowers in your own backyard. I hope you enjoy these San Diego Botanicals.

San Diego Museum of Art in San Diego, CA
I love visiting art museums for the same reason as anyone else. I love art. Museums are treasure troves of art I’d never otherwise have occasion to enjoy, and so we make a point to visit at least one local art museum in each new city we visit. Not only does it help fund the preservation of cultural and artistic artifacts, but it also gives us a way to experience the artistic terroir of a region. The San Diego Museum of Art was a beautiful museum housing incredible works that made the perfect pitstop to escape the hot afternoon sun. Here’s why we loved visiting during our time in San Diego.
Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum in San Diego, CA
Built as a testament to the friendship between Japan and the United States of America, The Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum in San Diego, California, is a gorgeous oasis of Japanese garden design, architecture, and botanicals that the nations share. The garden has a Japanese tea pavilion, waterfalls, koi ponds, a cherry tree grove, azalea & camellia gardens, and so much more. Read on to learn how to visit, what to do, and why this was one of my favorite places we visited in San Diego.
