Her face-framing fringe. Her award-winning performances. Her most recent role as muse for Gucci's latest fragrance, Bloom Profumo di Fiori. All legendary — and all Anjelica Huston.
While the actor embraces having a tried-and-true fashion and beauty uniform (read on for why she'll never grow out her iconic bangs), the new scent has earned a place in her routine. Gucci Bloom Profumo di Fiori's mix of tuberose and jasmine sambac reminds Huston of how "girls now are wearing dresses from the '50s — nostalgic, but modern," she says.

ALLURE: Where have you been riding out the pandemic?
HUSTON: Thirty-five years ago I bought myself a little ranch up near the Sequoia National Forest [in California], and that's where I am now. I have nine baby piglets, 14 kittens, and endless ducks and chickens and goats. I have a new little Shetland pony that I've been training, so it's all pretty cute.
ALLURE: It sounds like paradise.
HUSTON: It makes me very happy to be able to spend time here. So actually, my secret is that I'm having a good time. It was my secret until I told you.
ALLURE: I heard you traveled to Italy to shoot the fragrance campaign....
HUSTON: Yeah, right before the world crashed. The girls were great [singer Florence Welch, actor Jodie Turner-Smith, and designer Susie Cave also appear in the ads]. Alessandro [Michele, Gucci's designer and creative director] was great. It was one of those rare moments where everyone was happy — and in Italy!
ALLURE: If Gucci Bloom Profumo di Fiori were a movie, what kind of film would it be?
HUSTON: It would be quite Wes Anderson-like, and the plot would be romantic. Ylang-ylang and sandalwood and all those woodsy scents, as well as sweetness.
ALLURE: What's a smell that's nostalgic for you?
HUSTON: Christmas trees always get me going. I grew up in Ireland. I love the smell of Irish bread baking in an oven, and of the seashore on a lovely, bright day.
ALLURE: What's your earliest beauty memory?
HUSTON: I remember being quite small and watching my mother put on her makeup, and being entranced by the transformation — and I still am. I love it. I'm very attracted to mascara, heaps of it, always have been. That's something my father didn't really quite agree with me on. He'd say, "What's that on your face?" He hated it until he didn't see [me wearing] any, and then he was like, "Huh?"
ALLURE: You started modeling as a teen and have been on so many movie sets. What's the best beauty advice you picked up along the way?
HUSTON: Serge [Lutens] cut my bangs in 1971. And I've kept them throughout my life, until now [because of the pandemic]. Boy, do they need to be cut again. I'm telling you, they're down to the tip of my nose and it's not great. I was hoping I'd be pleasantly surprised by no bangs, but nah, I miss my bangs.
ALLURE: Have you always been pretty consistent with your style choices too?
HUSTON: I gave up on [wearing] a lot of color in the '70s. I’ve never been good in florals. I'm generally in black or white, or I feel comfortable in blue jeans and a T-shirt. There’s not a huge alternative to that in my life, really. Unless you're going out to dinner, which we haven't now for months. So, boy, will there be a shopping spree. I'll be swanning into Gucci then, with my bangs all cut. It'll be great.
