In Hollywood, there are very few people who've accomplished as much as Angelina Jolie has. Able to headline many films that have been praised by moviegoers and critics alike, many of Jolie's movies have also made a fortune at the box office.

On top of all the things that Jolie has done as an actor, it also has to be noted that she also is accomplished behind the camera. After all, Jolie has become an successful writer, producer, and director over the years.

When Jolie isn't busy ruling supreme in Hollywood, she has also become the mother of six children. Of course, no matter how accomplished someone may be, that doesn't mean they will be immune to making mistakes as a parent.

Since every parent makes mistakes, it shouldn't be surprising that Jolie once made a very questionable parenting decision. Unfortunately for Jolie, her mistake was that she seemed to insult one of her children in public and many observers were outraged by her comments.

How Did Angelina Jolie Insult Her Daughter, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt?

In May 2006, Angelina Jolie gave birth to her daughter with Brad Pitt, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. Seemingly from the moment Shiloh was born, she was in the spotlight as evidenced by the fact that Angelina and Brad reportedly sold their first photos of her to People for $4.1 million.

Given that Angelina was willing to share photos of Shiloh with the public shortly after she was born, it makes sense that she also talked about her daughter during interviews. Unfortunately for Angelina, however, some of her comments really upset a lot of people.

When Shiloh was roughly a year and a half old, Angelina was talking about her kids during an interview with Elle UK. During the conversation, Angelina compared her adopted children to Shiloh. While it is common for parents to compare their children, many readers felt that Angelina was insulting Shiloh.

“I think I feel so much more for Madd and Zee because they’re survivors, they came through so much. Shiloh seemed so privileged from the moment she was born. I have less inclination to feel for her..."

"I met my other kids when they were 6 months old, they came with a personality. A newborn really is this ... Yes, a blob! … I don’t ignore her needs, just because I think the others are more vulnerable.”

Around the same time as the Elle UK interview, Angelina made similar comments while talking to Look magazine.

“(Shiloh) looks like Brad. It’s funny because she’s almost going to be the outcast in the family because she’s blonde and blue-eyed."

"I felt so much more for Madd, Zahara and Pax because they were survivors,” Jolie said. “Shiloh seemed so privileged from the moment she was born. But I’m conscious that I have to make sure I don’t ignore her needs, just because I think the others are more vulnerable.”

After both of those interviews went public, there were many headlines about Angelina calling Shiloh a "blob" and an "outcast". A perfect example of that is celebitchy.com ran a headline that read "Angelina says she has trouble loving boring Shiloh, calls her a blob"

When people read headlines like that, it is very easy to understand why they'd be outraged with Angelina. However, when most people read Angelina's full comments, they will be unlikely to think that she was being cruel to Shiloh even if they disagree with the sentiment of her statements.

Is Angelina Jolie Supportive Of Her Daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt?

In the years since Angelina Jolie's aforementioned comments garnered negative headlines, her daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has gotten a lot of attention at times. As a mother, it must be hard seeing people gossip about your daughter on an international level like that.

In 2010, Shiloh was in the headlines since many people were commenting on the child's fashion choices. Even though Shiloh was still so young, some observers were harshly judging the clothes she was wearing.

When Angelina spoke to Reuters on the subject, she completely had Shiloh's back.

“I think she (Shiloh) is fascinating, the choices she is making. And I would never be the kind of parent to force somebody to be something they are not. I think that is just bad parenting.”

“Children should be allowed to express themselves in whatever way they wish without anybody judging them because it is an important part of their growth. Society always has something to learn when it comes to the way we judge each other, label each other. We have far to go.”

On top of making statements in support of Shiloh figuring out who she is, Angelina also seems to have a loving relationship with her daughter. After all, the paparazzi have captured footage of Jolie's sweet relationship with Shiloh including when they seemed to have a great time together at a concert.
