      What to know

      Critics Consensus

It's just as uneven and loosely structured as the first Anchorman -- and while Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues may not be quite as quotable, it's nearly as funny as its predecessor. Read critic reviews

Why it took 9 years to return to formula I can only attribute to that it took that much fan pestering ("take my money!") to convince the team that it wouldn't kill them to do just that. This time it's a look at the danger of corporations owning news concerns and again, the skewering is pretty much on point. There's plenty of celebrity cameos to sweeten the deal as well.

Just as funny as the first thank god, It was nice to see so many of the original cast back 9 years after the first was filmed and to me that shows they want to be there and they have faith it's worth doing, The story is again non existent and is all over the place at times but the humour was really funny, Maybe it got too silly at times and the running time could of been 20 minutes shorter but it's still great harmless fun that fans of the first will/Should love it just as much and holy shit! just look at that cameo list it's incredible!

My favorite part of this movie was nothing.

What made the original "Anchorman" special, was the unexpected absurdity of it: the time period, the focus on gender politics, the inane and yet hilarious exploits of its news team. This sequel doesn't quite have the same edge, or at least the same unexpectedness of its predecessor. Most of the funny moments in this film aim to be silly instead of shocking. What really puts me off about this film is its inability to let jokes die out quickly, and instead goes far too long with gags. The sequel also casts out elements from the first film that remain fan favorites, included Baxter the dog, the banter between Ron and Veronica, and a reliability on its time period. This new film tries to bring commentary on news networks of today into its eighties' setting without any modicum of satire, instead relying on more gags. If this film had come out earlier, it probably would have been better suited. Now it's a little tired and egotistical. Still, that being said, at least Anchorman 2 knows what it is and revels in it with complete absurdity when possible, which is uncommon nowadays.
