The second season of "American Horror Story" switches its setting to 1964 and Briarcliff Manor, a former TB ward turned institution for the criminally insane run by the oppressive Sister Jude (Jessica Lange). In "Asylum," no one is safe at Briarcliff, where Nazis, mutants, and a serial killer called Bloody Face all lurk. This William S. Paley Television Festival live event honors "American Horror Story: Asylum," the dramatic suspense series with revolving storylines. Denise Martin (senior editor, Vulture) moderates the following panelists: series creators/executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk; executive producers Dante Di Loreto and Tim Minear; and cast members Jessica Lange (Sister Jude), Lily Rabe (Sister Mary Eunice), Sarah Paulson (Lana Winters), Frances Conroy (The Angel of Death), Evan Peters (Kit Walker), and Naomi Grossman (Pepper). Later they are joined by Kathy Bates, a cast member on "American Horror Story: Coven." The panelists touch on such topics as: the deliberations of the producers about "a happy ending" for either the first or second season of "American Horror Story"; the "bizarre" musical numbers featuring Lange and Rabe in the show's second season; and Murphy's thoughts on "emotional horror." Questions from the audience then lead to a discussion of the following topics among others: Bates's upcoming role on the show's third season; how Murphy came up with the show's "anthology" format; and comparisons between characters from the first and second seasons.
