Ali G rapped over slang word
Spoof rap star Ali G has been rapped over the knuckles by a television watchdog for using a slang word to describe an intimate part of the female anatomy.
The Independent Television Commission expressed concern that the word "punani" was displayed on screen during the ITV daytime show Celebrity TV.
It feared the patois slang could upset the Afro-Caribbean community because of the time of day it appeared on screen.
ITV broadcaster Carlton offered apologies if the word had caused offence. Ali G is the alter ego of award-winning comedian Sacha Baron-Cohen.
