Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Lee1966PrestonPreston85 contributionsA great walk around this beautiful cathedral. The staff were informative and were walking around and able to answer any questions we had. - CarolineWRU.K.290 contributionsBeautiful typical Aberdeenshire castle with 12c fortified tower absorbed into Jacobean extensions. Some lovely furnished rooms (a particularly stunning library), excellent art & lots of interesting history. No photos inside (shame, National Trust) & guided tours only. Our guide, Jamie, was charming & very knowledgeable, particularly about the art, but you don't get that "exploring" feeling of a "free flow" property. Well done, National Trust for Scotland, for having seats in all rooms for those of us liking a rest occasionally (I do with National Trust England would do this!) No garden as such, just a play area. Waited 20 minutes for 2 coffees in the tea room - not enough staff as usual, National Trust!Written 1 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maria WLondon, UK35 contributionsBeautiful beach of sand and rock. The beach is followed by sand dunes and forests, meeting the mouth of the estuary where you can sometimes spot seals! There’s also some old war bunkers along the beach. It’s dog friendly (but be careful around birds and seals)! There’s a new coffee truck called “un petit cafe” which does amazing coffee :)Written 2 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - madmandSkelmersdale, UK582 contributionsWhat an unexpected find. £10 per person for over 14’s. Under 14 is free. Admission comes with a free drink at the decor store over the road.
The gentleman who worked there was very knowledgeable about the cars which my husband loved. The cars were a sight to behold. Some of the rarest in the world. It was great to see them and hear how they have been lovingly restored.Written 28 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Have to book for the cafe or sit outside. The food was very tasty and well presented by waiting staff. - DanLondon, UK52 contributionsLove to visit lossie beach when seeing family in the local area. It looks gorgeous on a clear/sunny day and it always worth a visit. A walk across the bridge to the dunes is really nice but (unsurprisingly) can be a little chilly outside of summer so do wrap up!Written 1 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gentleBrisbaneBrisbane, Australia73 contributionsWhat a find! This lovely piece of history, which fortunately has been carefully restored so we can safely enter the 200+ year old building, once a functioning wool mill for over 200 years. Emily was on hand to welcome me, show me through and share some very interesting facts about Knockando. It's always a special experience if the guide(in this case, Emily) loves their job and has enormous respect for the significant contribution made by their "workplace". I was very glad to buy some products from the gift shop, including a mug with their special tartan! Thank you Emily, you are a great Ambassador for Knockando and I would highly recommend a visit. Furthermore, I hope to return one year in summer!Written 1 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Kyle B1 contributionOur time at Carole and John’s farm was a truly enjoyable experience that my fiancé and I will never forget! Spending time with the Alpacas and learning about their behaviours and each animals unique qualities was peaceful, informative, and a great use of our time spent in the Elgin area. We both learnt a lot about the science of alpaca breeding, the animals themselves, but also the challenges and pleasures of their life on the farm.
Carole and John were some of the kindest folks we’ve ever met and we felt honoured to have spent an afternoon with them. Carole and John’s hospitality meant the world to us and it genuinely felt like they were happy to show us their home and ultimately their passion for the beasties. The tea, cake, and conversation were each thoughtfully tailored to Kiran and I, and the cozy warm hut beside the warmth of a fire warmed up our cold wet limbs but also our souls.
Thank you Carole and John for such a wonderful experience.
Yours,
Kyle and KiranWritten 31 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Parking fees can be paid with coins at the machines or by card via the RingGo App.
There are picnic benches and tables dotted about with stone built BBQ grills in some places. A food van is usually present and open from 10am to 4pm through the summer season. Play equipment for children, 3 waymarked trails through the woods and plenty of other paths and trails to explore. A fantastic sandy beach that stretches from Findhorn to Burghead, with historical war defences along the way. There is also an all ability path leading from the car park to a viewpoint at the top of the dunes overlooking the sea. Tracks and trails are suitable for cyclists and animals - it is a favoured place for dog walkers and horse riders. You can even find a bird hut hidden off one of the trails where you might be lucky enough to spot the odd deer.
There really is a little something for everyone!
There's no overnight parking permitted and in accordance with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code (SOAC) you shouldn't camp within the recreational area and should not be having any campfires in the forest.Written 12 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
