Audience Member Very entertaining and well acted. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Una "extraña" historia con un muy buen reparto. Una Agradable película Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Liked the 80s feel that this movie gave, and it is dark, funny and poignant enough to be likeable . Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review ashley h Accidents Happen is a decent film. It is about 15-year-old Billy Conway who has become the de facto glue between his bitter mom, distant brother, and stoic dad after a family tragedy. Geena Davis and Harrison Gilbertson give good performances. The script is a little slow in places. Andrew Lancaster did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Oh Shit!! where do I begin. It's films like this that can break careers in Hollywood, this film tries too hard to balance comedic and dramatic moments while restricting its narrative flow. The problem with SOME independent filmmaking is that everybody wants to have what I like to call the Jason Reitman Effect. Jason Reitman directed Juno and it went to international acclaim, by utilizing a balance of comedic and dramatic elements. But it did not work well at all for this film. The writing, the acting, the directing and the slowmotion camerawork just made this movie worse. Drawing out each boring moment with such agonizing nostalgia, and bitter storyline. I thought Geena Davis would save this movie but the more it went on the more pissed off I got. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Frances H Depressing drama, but well-acted by Geena Davis. Giles Hardie Sydney Morning Herald This take-no-prisoners family flick is not your average suburban trip. Rated: 4/5 Apr 22, 2010 Full Review Jim Schembri Sydney Morning Herald Accidents Happen quite easily commits the menu of sins that have long dogged Australian films: bad direction, unfocused story, thin characterisation, emotional incoherence and almost no idea what type of film it is supposed to be. Rated: 0.5/5 Apr 22, 2010 Full Review Tara Judah In Film Australia Accidents Happen is a credit to the Australian film industry... Jan 23, 2019 Full Review Brian Orndorf DVDTalk.com Star power helps Happen immensely, giving this dreary, confused picture a lift when it needs it the most. Too bad Davis couldn't fill all the roles. The film could've benefited with a little more of her personality. Rated: C- Aug 26, 2010 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film What emotional life there is in this set up - and with so much is going on, there isn't much - is crushed by dreadful narration. Rated: 2/5 Jul 6, 2010 Full Review Gavin Bond Sunday Times (Australia) The main appeal of this modest and rambling slice of life is writer Brian Carbee(TM)s delicious dialogue, which provides Davis with a string of amusing and acidic verbal put-downs.
