With determined rationality, Anne decides that when her illness reaches a critical point, she will take her own life. This film deals with just this suject. A woman ,who in her own right is a medical Dr. and mother of three grown children is faced with this issue . We watch this woman deal with her physical agonies and humilations this illness causes. The mother knows exactly how this illness will progress and whether she and her family can cope watching her deteriation
This is not a new story but we are not placed just as observers of this movie but feel her pain and confusion as additional members of this family in crisis.Mom ,the Dr. has decided to take her own life. She will not deal with what she knows lis waiting for at any moment.
She discusses her decision with her adult childen.Their behavior is unexpected and appears to be selfish .
We have read this story many times as either assisted or intentional unasissted suicide. This story is presented to us not as if we are outsiders but it involves us in different ways.
The cast is composed of british actors (bbc production) and are quite good.

She has symptoms which she initially keeps from her children, but they become worried by her mood swings and general health. She eventually tells her children that she has PSP and they are devastated by the news.
As the PSP gets worse she decides that she would rather end her own life than go through the same pain & suffering that her husband did and so she makes enquiries about a euthanasia clinic in Switzerland and then convenes a meeting with her children to tell them of her plans.
A heart wrenching true story. One of the best films I have seen in recent years.
It was useless to me and a waste of money
