My Political Journey
My political leaning hasn't moved since my teenage years...
I made my parents Libertarians, they were Democrats before I came along.
Getchu a Marxist-Leninist podcast in your life, if only just for some counter-points.
I tried once.
I had to see a GP because my ears started bleeding.
Based.
Do you think you're maybe more socially than fiscally conservative? We have a spot for your kind over here on the left. Besides, unless you own means of production you have no business being on the economic right anyway.
I "own the means of production" through my stock portfolio.
I am from Western Europe, and my economic take is that we should scrap ALL handouts and maybe the minimum wage, and replace it with a ubi. We also need to have a flat tax instead of a proportional tax system.
Dont know why youd be downvoted for this. Listening to opposite opinions for counter points is as based and well rounded as it gets.
Indeed. And frankly I'd rather listen to Marxist economic analysis because it's not braindead and it doesn't ignore the human component of industry.
What is one podcast you recommend?
I’m not used to color gradients, haven’t developed enough cones in my eyes for that
Are you a dog? If so, may I pet you?
Based and sure thing, monochromatic hand pilled
Have you considered grilling?
Trash compass. Anyone who thinks Fascism is that far right has never heard of Mussolini's social programs. He called it "The Italian New Deal".
Also, State capitalism is an economic system, not political. Call it NazBol if you're gonna put it there and give it a commie symbol.
Edit: just had a stroke, 'nationalism' is an ideology now
edit2 holy fucking shit corporatism is not an ideology, its an economic system, and its pro workers rights, its name doesn't come from the english word corporation
Yeah, Technocracy would fit better instead of State capitalism.
It's the Defacto system of China, Singapore, pre democracy SK and Taiwan.
Fascism sits between Nazism and Nationalism
Sure it's an ideology. It advocates, at least implicitly, for the organization of society by corporate interests... and it isn't much different than a plutocracy except that corporations are given legal "personhood"; whereas plutocrats are wealthy individual people.
Corporatism derives its name from the latin "corpus", meaning 'body'. The corpus was a government institution meant to replace the union. The closer collaboration between government and workers is meant to give them more negotiating power, with the tradeoff of being a closed shop and bans the right to strike.
Importantly, any country with a centralized government can implement corporatism. It doesn't describe how the government will operate. It doesn't describe foreign policy. It doesn't describe social policy. It's not an ideology, it's a political system.
Me when I’m in a describing political economy challenge and my opponent is an AuthCentre corporatist talking about how corporations =/= McDonald’s
That moment when corporatism and corporatocracy are two entirely unrelated terms. Same root word, that's it.
I'd argue that it's very much an ideology for those that advocate for it and benefit from it, whether they'd call themselves "corporatists" or not. Either way, it looks like 'crony capitalism'; a union of capital with state power, which it usually eclipses. Readily accepting a label isn't a requirement for membership into an ideological club.
Eg. Most Americans subscribe to the ideology of 'American Exceptionalism' regardless of their politics and foreign policy preferences. It's semantics.
How does it look like Crony Capitalism? Most forms of Corporatism work off Tripartism. Literally just institutionalized cooperation between workers, the government, and employers.
It's certainly happened that Crony Capitalism took part in the economy of a Corporatist country. Mussolini certainly took advantage of it, but it's far from a core tenant.
Semantics is the new politics, don'tcha know?
Thank you for saying that
Do you have any links for the Italian New Deal or any of Mussolini's social policies?
I can't find any mentions of mussolini calling it the new deal, I guess I misremembered or just couldn't find it, but my point stands.
He was originally a teacher, so huge budget boosts for education. His ODN (National After-Work program) maintained thousands of sports fields and libraries, massive expansions of worker benefits: sick days, holidays, 40 hour work week max, he had drained a huge swathe of swampland south of rome, all sorts of things.
The wiki pages on Fascist Italy and the Fascist Italian Economy have plenty of info. Corporatism is badass
Cringe
I wheezed at the proles part. Doubleplusgood
Speaking of human rights...
‘Ate Eastasia
‘Ate Eurasia
Luv me Big Brother
Based and literally 1984 pilled
" I believe in that ideology because I like the name of the ideology"
What a giga chad
Also because I got pretty big into AC: Syndicate which is an amazing game, and even includes Karl Marx :)
Problems with this compass.
Market socialism doesn’t make sense to be authoritarian? Many would regard it as more libertarian since it allows for a market to exist so long as there is some form of collectivist action in the workplace, but the businesses still act independently from the government.
Anarcho syndicalism and anarcho communism should be switched since anarcho syndicalism proposes its own type of centralization, but that’s a bit more complex and I don’t feel like elaborating.
Minarchism takes up to much space in the more authoritarian parts, it’s more like a rectangle
Neoliberalism would lose 4 of their bottom right squares to libertarianism, and lose 2:1 and 1:1 squares of the neoliberalism square to libertarianism.
I don’t really get why the anarchists are even making it half way into each of their squares, it’s more like at most a quarter.
Fascism (since we’re going by economic individualism vs collectivism) shouldn’t stretch that far into the right.
Nationalism, libertarian left, and libertarian right seem too broad to put them either of there.
Libertarian left would make sense as “social libertarian” and libertarian right as just libertarian. Shed off the two farthest squares for social libertarian to libertarian socialism, and move social libertarianism more to the right (lib centre).
Wait why do we have neoliberalism and liberalism here? Also this undermines that classical liberalism would be placed where neoliberalism is.
Corporatocracy would be more authoritarian if we were to take into account government intervention in the economy. It would be free enough for corpos to both exist and live, but restrictive enough to where only corpos can live. Plutocracy might actually take the more libertarian squares from corporatocracy, as it moves up to take some from fuedalism, and much from absolute monarchy (the reason why some from feudalism is because feudalism is actually pretty decentralized).
Democratic socialism and social democracy should go from squares stacked on top each other to vertical rectangles that go on each side. The reason is because social democracy calls for reformed capitalism, democratic socialism calls for socialism to replace capitalism via the liberal democratic means.
Finally, Trotskyism. He was libertarian, seriously wtf. Maybe more than Stalin, but that was only differences on some of Stalin’s more authoritarian policies. Now, granted, it should be admitted that in economics you could say he was more willing to separate the party from the economy, which was different from Stalin, but he still wanted government experts. Replace the libertarian half with Marxism or move Left Communism up and shed their more libertarian parts for Rosa Luxembourg (did i spell it right?)
I need to touch grass
Did you just change your flair, u/Stalingloriamemes? Last time I checked you were a Centrist on 2022-5-29. How come now you are a PurpleLibRight? Have you perhaps shifted your ideals? Because that's cringe, you know?
Now come on, put your pants back on and go outside, you dirty degen.
No wait, not that way. There's a school over there!
I am a bot, my mission is to spot cringe flair changers. If you want to check another user's flair history write !flairs u/<name> in a comment.
LMFAO
Based and needs to touch grass not children pilled
I feel bad for you. You were supposed to tracel in the other direction and only listen to alex jones for low brow entertainment.
That's pretty much what I do with Alex Jones. He's meme quality. I listen to Haz for similar reasons. He's like the Alex Jones of the left. But what do you mean trace in the other direction?
LOL I didnt know Haz, I'll give him a listen. For left cringe I listen to vausch....
The correct way to trace the compass is to start on the left and move right on the Y axis. As long as your trajectory ends in yellow you'll be alright.
Haz is definitely the most listenable brocialist. He's also got the strongest Leninist vibe because very much anti-left-communist, in fact, he can't stand cultural marxism or identity politics.
edit: he really pretty much invented MAGACommunism which is a fun new development and is actually getting socialists a lot of visibility.
I might actually like him. But then its not cringy like A Jones... Vausch is cringe and thats why I listen for memetainment
You telling me Lenin and Stalin weren't nationalists?
A lot of people don't realize this but nationalism is definitely a big component of State Socialism/Communism. The USSR had closed borders.
Why is liberalism centrist? Don't we have a libertarian axis? Like wtf
Liberalism and libertarianism are not the same thing. Liberalism is an economic position and it is very economically center. It's just standard issue economics with a little bit of socialism and a little bit of Capitalism in roughly equal quantities
Isn't liberalism socially liberal as well?
Liberal comes from the Classical Liberal theory of modern economics which is more or less dead and replaced by Keynesian economics and as wee see in other countries, Keynesian ec just results in uncapped inflation and you get extremes LIKE Zimbabwe where people are pushing around huge amounts of cash in carts just to go grocery shopping and shit.
Liberal would be better replaced by conservative vs progressive. That's a better way to talk about the social axis. Conservatives want to CONSERVE the status quo while progressives want to continue to improve on it.
You and I have had a similar journey.
Lenin absolutely was a righteous man, much like many other figures throughout history who gave their lives to the pursuit of justice, even if they have flaws so long as the good they did outweighs the bad.
Much like Napoleon or Gandhi or MLK/Malcolm X, the positives they brought to the world outdoes the bad. Without imperfect men, we'd be nothing.
Sadly, Leninism didn't really see its endgame. Stalin took the reins and made the USSR into an economic juggernaut, defeated the Third Reich and so on, but I don't think he really stayed true to Lenin's vision.

Should've stuck with Alex Jones.
Bro literally thinks 666 is 33 times two and that 33 is pi. I'm good lol
I had the inventor of the Barcode on, and read papers on it. The key code used to make it work, is based on a 666.
Well, it's real close to two-thirds in math, so...
Well that's why the Egyptians had it in the calculation in their temples to the Sun, it was 666. It's the Sun God calculation.
Yeah, but--
It's like 33!
To have it associated with the--
You see 666 is a doubling of 33. And 33 is pi.
Right, yeah. Thirds, repeating 6.
I've been listening to the guy for 20 years, I've never heard him say either of those things.

Top mind right here
He's talking symbolism, not mathematics.
Man, technology is wild. The amusing colors are now in 4k
Did they just place the ideologies places with their eyes closed?
It's pretty accurate, tbh. Most other templates agree roughly on the ideology placement, though I think we need a third axis for progressive/conservative. A lot of people have conflated economic left-right with progressive/conservative. There are a lot of conservatives on the left too and most of them are tankies. I'm much more of a progressive, as a Scientific Reformist Marxist.
According to this, I’m a Trotskyist and I certainly am not that
Funny how we go on the opposite side of our families. Mine is pro-Trudeau, so I am a Nationalist.
Trudeau is just average liberal
He is an incompetent, Totalitarian extremist that acts like a dictator. You need to have a special mental illness to think that mixing the gay flag with Islamophilia is a good idea. You need to be quite the Far-Leftist to unironically be close af to Leninism and as far as you can be from actual Liberalism. He is the kind of guy that compliments the Chinese Communist Party.
Those are certainly all words
