22 Great Movies On Netflix About Dogs

In 2018, Netflix released a reboot of the 1974 canine classic, Benji. Interestingly enough, the newer version was produced by Blumhouse Productions, known best for horror films such as Paranormal Activity, Get Out, and the Happy Death Day franchise. Go figure. But don't worry, you won't find any scary stuff in this family friendly flick. Just a sweet remake directed by Brandon Camp, son to Joe Camp, who directed the original. Guess Benji runs in the family.

This is a grealy inspiring film based on the true story about a state trooper who wanted to join the elite K-9 unit but was repeatedly rejected until he found Ruby. Ruby was a shelter dog who had been rejected from multiple foster homes until finally being adopted by Dan. Together they beat the odds and helped Dan achieve his dreams. This i a Netflix Orginal film so you can catch it on Netflix so long as you have a subscription.

While The Secret Life of Pets isn't currently available on Netflix, you can get a nice dose of Illumination Entertainment animation with its sequel, The Secret Life of Pets 2. Honestly, this sequel has a lot in common with the first one. If your kids are young enough, they might not even be able to tell the difference. Expect lighthearted gags and some voice performances from huge celebs such as Harrison Ford, Jenny Slate, and Kevin Hart.

Pup Star: World Tour

This holiday-themed movie features just as many adorable doggies as the first three, and wraps up the Pup Star series like a nice present under the Christmas tree.

Don't expect any of the dark grit exemplified by the original source material — Netflix's White Fang doesn't really have a bite.
