Lots to cover in this post. Let’s get right to it.
THE GAMESTOP STOCK HEADLINES
I’ll let Wikipedia provide the one-sentence summary: “In January 2021, a short squeeze of the stock of American video game retailer GameStop and other securities took place, causing major financial consequences for certain hedge funds and large losses for short sellers.”
Onto the details.
On January 28, GameStop’s stock reached $483 per share (on January 4, a share could be purchased for $17.25). By February 2, GameStop shares lost 60 percent of their value. By February 9, shares plummeted 86 percent from their January 28 high. Per CNBC, “hedge fund Melvin Capital Management lost 53% in January” as a result of this short squeeze.
This case of severe stock market whiplash wasn’t terribly surprising to me, given the astrological climate.
As I explained in my January 7 blog post, 2021 will be dominated by a persistent square (90-degree) aspect between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus. I wrote:
“… in my eyes, this Saturn-Uranus square indicates major (Uranus) economic (Taurus) restructuring (Saturn) as we embrace a new world (Aquarius).”
This square will peak (AKA: be exact) at three different times in 2021:
- February 17
- June 14
- December 24
Although the aspect is active all of 2021 (and until November of 2022), the time periods listed above are when we can expect “Saturn square Uranus” themes to reach a boiling point.
As I explained in that same January 7 post: “given these two planets’ slow speeds, I will keep an eye on those dates — with a three-week window on either end” (the GameStop stock short squeeze falls within the ‘dates to watch’ of that first peak).
I want to explain why this event, in particular, epitomized Saturn in Aquarius.
For starters, the impetus for this whole pandemonium was a forum on Reddit that the New York Times described as “gleefully determined to teach Wall Street a lesson.”
As the New York Times further explained, “on Wall Street, individual investors are often derided as “dumb money,” destined to lose against the highly compensated analysts and traders who buy and sell stocks for a living. But in recent days, individual investors — many of them followers of a popular, juvenile, foul-mouthed Reddit page called Wall Street Bets — have upended that narrative by banding together to put the squeeze on at least two hedge funds that had bet that GameStop’s shares would fall.”
Aquarius represents the masses and is one of three signs heavily concerned with justice (Libra and Sagittarius are the other two). It is the sign of revolutions and “power to the people” (in contrast to its neighboring sign, Capricorn, which is all about corporations and monopolies). And, it’s also the most unpredictable of all the signs (hence its rulership over earthquakes, electricity, and lightning).
When Saturn transits through Aquarius, we often see “the people” gaining more power. And, since Aquarius rules technology (including the Internet), it’s fitting that this was a digital uprising that carried with it a mission of making a statement about equality — or the lack thereof.
When Deadline reported negotiations had begun on a Netflix film about this event, it explained that “the intention is to use the GameStop episode as a specific way to shine a light on the phenomenon of how social media has leveled the playing field and allowed the masses to challenge status quo gatekeepers, for good and bad.”
Hmmm… let’s see. Social media (Aquarius) allowing the masses (Aquarius) to challenge status quo gatekeepers (Saturn). Leave me to say no more.
If we look at the astrology in the most literal way, this story wrote itself: Saturn (a concerted effort) in Aquarius (by the masses) approached an exact square to (triggered) Uranus (volatility) in Taurus (in the financial market).
I also find it amusing that the app that facilitated this whole thing is named Robinhood. The archetype of Robin Hood (taking from the rich to give to the poor) is Aquarius to a T! And, in true Aquarius fashion, Robinhood is “one of the few brokers that gives investors the opportunity to trade cryptocurrency.”
Expect many more fluctuations in the global markets the rest of the year. This Saturn-Uranus roller-coaster is just getting started. From where I sit, I don’t see the ride ending until the late fall of 2022.
Oh! While we’re on the topic of the stock market. When Uranus entered Taurus on March 6, 2019 (it will be there until April 27, 2026 — except for a brief stint in Gemini from July 8 to November 8 of 2025), I published an Instagram post where, among other things, I wrote:
“Expect financial (Taurus) volatility (Uranus)… and cryptocurrencies to evolve and become more mainstream.”
It’s important to understand that when you have a long-term transit like Uranus in Taurus (in this case, one that lasts seven years), the idea isn’t that the entire seven-year stint will be volatile and chaotic. Rather, those qualities are awakened when Uranus gets significantly triggered (as with this year’s squares from Saturn).
During this bedlam, the price of Bitcoin increased twenty percent in value after Elon Musk endorsed it in this Twitter bio (as a response to the GameStop stock short).
More to come, surely.
UNITED STATES POLITICAL UPDATE
A quick skim of my emails and Instagram DMs makes one thing obvious: a lot of people are clamoring for insight and clarity on the United States’ political future.
There are various lenses I want to look through:
- The Republican Party birth chart
- The Democratic Party birth chart
- The astrology of Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial
- The year-ahead astrology for Donald Trump
Let’s begin with a quick glance at both major political parties’ birth charts to get an indication of what’s to come for each. I will not analyze each birth chart; instead, I will focus on the transits and progressions that will affect each birth chart over the next two years.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record: everything has a birth chart. People, of course. But, also countries, cities, companies, political parties, movie productions, etc. In short — anything that has a start date has a birth chart. This is why I recommend considering the astrology of a significant start date (and, now, for a shameless plug: yes, I offer that service).
The Republican Party
The “date of birth” of the modern-day Republican Party is a point of contention. The Republican National Committee acknowledges March 20, 1854 as the founding of the party.
However, I consider October 23, 1853 as the founding date of the party — the date when lawyer and New Hampshire congressman Amos Tuck called together like-minded anti-slavery colleagues for a secret meeting in Exeter, NH. At that meeting, as The Concord Monitor explains, “Tuck proposed combining all of the smaller anti-slavery political parties to form a single, new party, which he named the Republican Party.”
I have studied this October 23 1853 chart quite extensively and found that transits and progressions to it correspond with significant events in the Republican Party’s history.
For example, transiting Uranus (surprises, a revolutionary change, unexpected developments) was opposite (stressing) the party’s sun (core identity) when Donald Trump was elected president. And, transit Pluto (death and rebirth; a demolition of existing structures) squared the party’s sun through most of Donald Trump’s presidency.
Additionally, Jupiter (growth/abundance) and Saturn (a solid foundation) sextiled (supported) the party’s Mars (energy, strength, vitality) and trined (supported) its north node (purpose) when Ronald Reagan’s first term began on January 20, 1981 — making a solid astrological case as to why his presidency had such a substantial, long-term influence on the party.
As far as what’s ahead: the Republican Party will be under two major influences from Uranus over the next 18 months.
First up: a Uranus return (AKA: Uranus returning to its natal position, or the degree where it was located when the party was “born”). This return occurs roughly every 84 years and is considered a pivotal time that requires restructuring, dismantling, and drastic changes the clear out the decks. It’s time to revitalize.
The last time the Republican Party went through this transit was in the summer and early fall of 1936 and then again from April 1937 to May 1938.
During this time, the GOP split into a conservative wing (the largest wing) and a liberal wing (dominant in the Northeast). That’s par for the course for a Uranus transit, which shakes things up and blows up the status quo.
The upcoming Uranus return is active from late March of 2021 until early April of 2022 and has three peaks (times when the return is exact):
- May 14, 2021
- December 12, 2021
- February 24, 2022
An important FYI about peaks: this is when a transit’s energy is at its strongest and most concentrated. At least one peak will be significant; not all three are. Since Uranus is a slow-moving planet, each peak is active two weeks before and after the actual “peak date.”
A Uranus transit is navigated successfully when you embrace change. Clinging to the status quo never works out well when Uranus is active (even less so when Uranus makes itself known through a square, which demands that we step outside our comfort zone). It’s also important to point out that while Uranus returns to its natal position, it will square the party’s natal Mars, kicking up significant tension. I believe this will be a wakeup call to the party to eschew Trumpism (which I expect to be a source of significant contention).
The Republican Party is also wrapping up a square from transiting Neptune to its natal Jupiter. This transit was first active in January of 2020, and will be active until late April of 2021. The peaks are as follows:
- April 27, 2020
- August 22, 2020
- February 25, 2021
When Neptune squares Jupiter, the rose-colored glasses are on and turned up to “max.” Neptune squares are about self-delusion, denial, and projection. It’s very common, during this transit, to fall prey to blind faith and eventually be sideswiped because we aren’t consciously or unconsciously aware of blind spots.
The Democratic Party
The Democratic Party (its January 8, 1828 date of birth is not contested) also has several transits and progressions worth noting.
That chart will be affected by transits of Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto. If that chart belonged to a human client of mine, I would them know they need to prepare for a stretch of time that will be monumental for their development and evolution.
Saturn will be conjunct the Democratic party’s natal Venus — and square the Democratic party’s natal Jupiter — from February 2021 to January 2022, with these being peak times:
- March 2021
- Second half of July 2021
- First half of August 2021
- December 2021
In the birth chart of an entity (like a company or a political party), we don’t look to Venus for information on romantic relationships. Instead, it provides insight on diplomacy, values, and women.
When Saturn sits on top of a planet, it solidifies, crystallizes, and cements that planet’s archetypes (and also strengthens them via a period of testing and hard work). With that in mind, I think that over the next ten months we will see existing female leadership gain strength in the Democratic Party — and also identify new female rising stars.
Financially, the Democratic Party will need to be more careful with its resources. Transits from Saturn to Venus usually indicate periods when cash flow temporarily dips (either because there is more going out — or less coming in — than usual). The simultaneous square from Saturn to Jupiter (excess) also indicates that this would be a good year to identify extraneous spending and nip it in the bud.
Uranus has been square the Democratic party’s Venus since June of 2020 — and will be until January of 2022, with these peaks:
- June – October 2020
- April and the first half of May of 2021
- The second half of December of 2021 and first half of January of 2022
This, to me, is another indication of women (Venus) within the party rising to new and unprecedented (Uranus) heights. How fitting that the country’s first female vice-president — who started her role seven months after this transit started — stems from the Democratic Party. Stacy Abrams’ voting rights advocacy also helped raise her standing and profile within the party in the fall of 2020. Expect more women to shine within the party as they revolutionize (Uranus) the party.
There is a hugely significant progression happening in the Democratic Party’s chart: the progressed sun opposite the party’s natal Uranus. I say “hugely significant” because this is the first time the chart is experiencing this progression (and it won’t experience it again until the year 2376).
This progression started to ramp up in August of 2020 and is active through August of 2022; it will be especially potent between April 2021 and March 2022. This is a major overhaul of the party’s identity. I would expect long-standing figures in the party to see their prominence and power decrease over the next 18 months — even more so if they push back against more progressive policies.
Donald Trump’s Second Impeachment Trial
On February 13, Donald Trump was acquitted in his second impeachment trial.
I was in no way surprised given that the Senate trial’s birth chart (February 9, 2021 at 1 PM in Washington, DC) has “failure to launch” written all over it.
I chose to focus on the Senate trial’s birth chart (rather than January 13, 2021 — when Congress adopted one article of impeachment against Trump) because the trial sets up the arguments that lead to the verdict.
Mercury retrograde isn’t at all problematic in the trial’s chart, by the way. If anything, Mercury retrograde would be an auspicious time to try something again (in this case, retry an impeachment).
There were other factors that made it clear this second trial was akin to starting a fire with astrological wet firewood.
- Mercury square Mars
- Moon was in balsamic phase
- Moon was void-of-course
- No planets in fire signs
When I examine a trial’s chart, I analyze it as a way to forecast how the prosecution will fare. In other words — whoever ‘makes the case’ is represented by the chart.
The square between Mercury and Mars indicates that the facts (Mercury) laid out by the prosecution would receive significant pushback (square Mars) and result in the verdict going in favor of the defense.
The condition of the moon is of huge importance when analyzing a chart like this one. The moon sets the ‘overall tone’ and also represents the audience that ultimately defines the verdict. Since the verdict started roughly 48 hours before the new moon, the moon was in what is known as the ‘balsamic phase’. This phase of the moon is best-suited for wrapping up unfinished business, relaxing, and preparing for new beginnings. It is the absolute worst time for a significant new start (be it the launch of a company, a new marketing campaign, or presenting a case for impeachment).
Additionally, the moon was void-of-course. In other words, the moon (in Capricorn) made its last major aspect while traveling through that sign. Things start when the moon is void-of-course go nowhere. They fizzle. They land with a resounding thud.
And, there were no planets in any of the three fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius). Fire signs convey assertiveness, dynamic movement, and strength. This was absent in the chart.
With this astrological soil, the impeachment trial was dead on arrival and didn’t stand a chance.
Donald Trump’s Next Two Years
Several of you have reached out to me to ask me what is ahead for Donald Trump. I can say, without a doubt, that the next two years will be pivotal for him — and some of the most challenging he has ever encountered. There are three major transits I want to focus on:
- Neptune square his sun and moon
- Saturn opposite his Mars and ascendant
- Pluto opposite his Venus
Just one of these transits indicates major foundational shifts. Three at the same time? Your world is getting a major shake-up.
Transiting Neptune in a square aspect to the sun or moon can be highly disorienting and confusing. The sun represents our identity and vitality; the moon is our emotional world. Neptune, by square, spews out a very thick fog that makes us feel like we’ve suddenly lost direction. The things we once looked to for a sense of belong, identity, and safety are harder to find — or downright inaccessible.
In many cases, challenging aspects from transiting Neptune to our sun and moon temporarily increase our chances of developing unhealthy coping mechanisms (and, in some cases, destructive addictions) because the dissolution of things that once seemed so stable can be very difficult for many to accept. For many, escapist (and, often, numbing) behaviors are preferred to facing a reality that seems uncertain and can make us feel like we are trying our best to stay afloat.
Since Trump has his sun and moon in opposition, any transit that affects the sun also affects his moon (and vice-versa). So, this Neptune square will be emphasized, since it affects both of his luminaries.
These two aspects are at play from March of 2021 until March of 2023, with these peaks:
- April – September 2021
- February and March 2022
- Second half of October 2022 – January 2023
Neptune is the master of dissolution. Structures, systems, and foundations that we thought would always be there disappear. Powerful waves take away the metaphorical sand castle we built on the shore.
A classical astrology interpretation of this aspect is: “ego dissolution”. Since Neptune moves so slowly, Trump has never had this aspect before (and will not have it again). This will be new for him.
From December of 2022 until March of 2023, Trump will also experience Saturn opposing his Mars and his ascendant.
Mars is our gas pedal; it represents our drive, ambition, and sense of victory. Our ascendant, among other things, has to do with how we are perceived. Saturn in opposition to the ascendant can bring reality checks and moments of reckoning about how we are viewed by others. Saturn in opposition to Mars can bring momentum to a screeching halt.
Since a transit of Saturn opposite the ascendant can also be interpreted as Saturn conjunct (“on top of”) the descendant — the sensitive angle where the seventh house of relationships begins — an important relationship can undergo significant testing and ultimately come to an end during this time. When Saturn opposes Mars, our progress is stalled and we don’t feel victorious.
While these are not “once in a lifetime” transits, they occur roughly every 28 years. The last time Trump experienced these transits was March to September of 1993, and then again December 1993 to February 1994. Around this time, his public persona took a massive hit. A biography, published in 1993, was titled “Lost Tycoon”; his financial woes made headlines and his sense of power was greatly diminished.
According to the Los Angeles Times, “two of Trump’s casinos were in the red overall for the first nine months of 1993”.
Vanity Fair writes: “In the fall of 1993, Donald Trump was clawing out of the rubble of a cratering business career. Three of his Atlantic City casinos had gone bankrupt. He’d nearly defaulted on $3.4 billion in debt, and, humiliatingly, his creditors had put him on a living allowance: $450,000 a month. Bankers forced him to sell his 282-foot yacht, the Trump Princess, as well as the Trump Shuttle airline and stake in the Plaza hotel, which Trump had once called “the ultimate trophy in the world.” Many people in the city believed he was finished.”
The last time Trump experienced this humbling transit, he was able to recover quite quickly just a few years later since he had transiting Uranus (unexpected developments) trining (supporting) his Midheaven (career) and opposing his Venus. Uranus oppositions aren’t necessarily “bad”; they simply bring events out of the blue that we have no control over; in true unpredictable Uranus fashion, they may work out wildly in your favor — or not. Given that Uranus was supporting his Midheaven, the odds of favorable unforeseen events relating to finances (Venus) were pretty high.
His personal life took much more of a hit in the mid-1990s, though. His relationship with Marla Maples experienced significant bumps in the road — and ultimately led to a separation and divorce — as he experienced two of the most challenging transits someone in a relationship can go through: transiting Neptune opposite natal Venus (the epitome of the rose-colored glasses coming off and, unless vulnerability is prioritized, a major loss of connection in a relationship) and transit Pluto squaring the descendant (an existing relationship has to be completely renovated from the inside out or it will no longer work).
Alas, when Trump goes through this same Saturn transit he had in the early 1990s, he will also have just finished a square from Neptune to his sun and moon, which adds a sense of loss and surrender. A financial resurrection seems much less likely this time around.
The opposition from transiting Pluto to Trump’s natal Venus began to build in December of 2020 and will be active through December of 2022, with these peaks:
* January – February 2021
* June – August 2021
* November 2021 – January 2022
* September – October 2022
When Pluto conjuncts, squares, or opposes, something (what that “something” is depends on what natal planet is triggered) undergoes a massive shift. This shift does not happen overnight (that happens when Uranus triggers something); but, by the end of the transit, a significant metamorphosis has occurred. Venus represents relationships, finances, and our values. This could bring a major change to Trump’s financial standing (even more so considering the other two transits taking place).
I expect him to make plenty of headlines over the next two years.
A SNEAK PEEK AT 2024
While the transits of Jupiter and Saturn through Aquarius are important (see my Instagram video about “The Great Conjunction” for more details, or what I wrote in this post under the “December 21: Jupiter Conjunct Saturn in Aquarius” section), this is simply a transitional period until Pluto enters Aquarius in 2024 — where it will spend twenty years.
TECHNICAL NOTE: Pluto will dip its toe in Aquarius from March 23, 2023 until June 11, 2023. However, it begins its uninterrupted sojourn through Aquarius on January 21, 2024.
In astrology, we look to the last time an astrological event happened to get a sense of what we can expect.
We are not talking about carbon copies or exact replicas; more like common themes (after all, the last time Pluto in Aquarius, the other planets were elsewhere).
Before we review what happened during previous Pluto-in-Aquarius eras, I want to discuss what has occurred during Pluto’s travels through Capricorn so far, to demonstrate how Pluto works.
In 2008, Pluto entered Capricorn — the sign of firm structures, global corporations, monopolies, and the economy.
Pluto empowers, warps, distorts, corrupts, deconstructs and transforms the topics of the planet that rules the sign. These topics go through a death and rebirth of sorts… forever changed.
Pluto is about destruction, death and rebirth, deconstruction, people in positions of power, transformation, transmutation. I often describe Pluto transits as a category 5 hurricane that decimate everything in their path. Whatever isn’t capable of sustaining significant stress crumbles. A rebuilding period always follows, but there is no doubt there is some irreversible damage — and grief — that has to be processed.
When Pluto transits through Capricorn, things that seemed “too big to fail” end up failing. The powerful who seemed untouchable topple. Powerful enterprises are forever changed. It is no coincidence, then, that Pluto in Capricorn brought these events (and this is just the tip of the iceberg):
2008: Lehman Brothers, the fourth-largest investment bank in the United States at the time, declared bankruptcy. It was the largest bankruptcy filing in US history and marked the end of the firm’s 161-year history. The global investment bank Bear Stearns was bought by JP Morgan. This was also the year when Bernie Madoff’s long-running house of cards toppled over in dramatic fashion.
Throughout the 2010s, long-established brands that at one point seemed indestructible declared bankruptcy, including: Toys R Us, supermarket chain A&P (founded in 1859 and the United States’ largest grocery store chain for six decades), Hummer, Payless Shoes, Borders, Sports Authority (at one time, the largest sporting goods retailer in the US), Century 21, Neiman Marcus, Pier One, and GNC.
2011: The Occupy Wall Street protests began across the world. While ultimately unsuccessful (largely because there wasn’t much energy in Aquarius to keep them going), this nevertheless was the start of a call for systemic change (Pluto) in governments and the economy (Capricorn).
2014: After decades of allegations of sexual harassment, assault, and rape, decades-long accusations against Bill Cosby were back in the headlines. By the fall of 2015, sixty victims had come forward to share their experiences. Consequently, The Cosby Show was removed from syndication — and Bill Cosby’s honorary degrees from over twenty colleges and universities were revoked. In the fall of 2018, Cosby was sentenced to serve three to ten years for three counts of sexual assault.
2016: In a vote that stunned the world, the United Kindgom voted to withdraw from the European Union.
2016: After losing a $140 million lawsuit (which they settled at $31 million), New York City media juggernaut Gawker declared bankruptcy and ceased operations.
2017: The New York Times and The New Yorker reported on numerous accusations against Harvey Weinstein for sexual assault, sexual harassment, and rape. This led to Weinstein’s arrest in February of 2020 (and, prior to that, expulsion from the Motion Picture Academy, suspensions from the British Academy of Film and Arts, and termination from his own production company). Harvey Weinstein is a classic representation of Capricorn energy. He was an all-powerful figure who was seemingly untouchable and was able to suppress accusations. But, when Pluto transits through Capricorn, those who naively think they are too big to fail often see their empires crumble.
Like Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein epitomizes the Capricorn archetype — the paternal authority figure who seems like an institution. Alas, Pluto reminds us that there are consequences for misuses of power (even if they take decades).
Decades of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church (another epitome of Capricorn) came to light during Pluto’s sojourn through Capricorn. This is fitting, since Pluto rules things that are hidden, repressed, and “in the shadows.” But, if there is one thing Pluto reminds us is that while things may be locked away and swept under the rug, nothing stays hidden forever.
The Catholic Church also elected its first Latin American pope during Pluto’s transit through Capricorn, bringing systemic change to an institution. The fact that Pope Francis formally changed a Roman Catholic Church law in order to allow women to administer communion and serve at the altar is also fitting for Pluto’s transit through Capricorn.
And, of course, the creation of the Black Lives Matter movement epitomizes Pluto in Capricorn. Systemic and foundational racism that has “lurked in the shadows” for decades is up for examination.
We still have a few more years left with Pluto in Capricorn (and, during most of that time, the United States will experience its first-ever Pluto return; see this post for more details).
So, what can we expect as Pluto travels through Aquarius? Well, let’s review the events that happened the last time Pluto was there (January – August 1778; December 1778 – February 1798; September – December 1798).
- The moral theory of utilitarianism (which, among other things, posits that everyone’s happiness counts equally) is introduced. Free basic education and affordable housing for low-income families are examples of utilitarian policies.
- The French Revolution
- American Revolutionary War
- Start of the first Industrial Revolution
- The first untethered manned hot air balloon flight
- The phenomenon of black holes is first published in a scientific journal
- Benjamin Franklin invents bifocals
- The United States’ first recorded riot — The Doctors’ Mob — takes place (Aquarius rules riots and social uprisings)
- The United States patent system is established (Aquarius is new ideas, and Saturn is law… sometimes astrology is extremely literal).
- Development of the smallpox vaccine — the first successful vaccine
- Development of the modern telegraph
- The first steamboat is built by Claude de Jouffroy (steam is water in the gas phase — and Aquarius rules gases; additionally, this revolutionized trade and transportation at the time)
- The United States adopts the dollar
- The Treaty of Paris is signed
- Mary Wollstonecraft publishes A Vindication of the Rights of Women in 1792 (in response to a report to the French National Convention that women should only receive domestic education). This was one of the first times the role of women in modern society was actively challenged.
- The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts rules slavery illegal based on the state’s 1780 constitution. All slaves are immediately freed.
- The first dental drill is invented
- The first graphite pencils are introduced
Prior to that, Pluto was in Aquarius from:
- February 1532 – July 1532
- December 1532 – February 1553
- October 1553 – December 1553
It’s important to point out that, due to ethnocentrism in education, most well-documented history during this time focuses on Europe. I do not mean to purposefully ignore or discard events that took place outside of Europe during this time; they are simply much more difficult to track.
This tme period was largely defined by the Protestant Reformation (which started in the late 1510s when when Pluto was in Capricorn but gained strength as Pluto traveled through Aquarius), including Calvinism.
Remember, too, that Aquarius is the sign that rules science. It’s very fitting, then, that during a Pluto (systemic and foundational change) transit through Aquarius, Nicolaus Copernicus published his theory that the earth and planets revolved around the sun (which, as you know, was initially mocked and considered ridiculous). Not surprisingly, progressive and radical thinker Copernicus was an Aquarian.
There is an important point I want to make here about the concept of revolutions — which are very “Pluto in Aquarius.” To many, the term “revolution” conjures images of bloody battles, firearms, and violence. While not inaccurate, astrology has to be analyzed within the appropriate time and space.
The 2020s and 2030s are not the late 1700s. I believe this next Pluto-in-Aquarius revolution will be largely technological and digital. Think more cyberhacking and less “people in the streets with bayonets.”
The more salient concept to consider is the “why?” behind revolutions. The common thread with Pluto in Aquarius events have to do with redistributions of power, giving a voice to the masses, and obtaining freedom and liberation.
Some things I believe we can expect during Pluto’s upcoming transit of Aquarius:
- Significant advancements in holograms, nanotechnology, and robotics
- The next industrial revolution
- A wave of political progressivism (one thing to watch: Aquarius is a fixed sign that, prior to the discovery of Uranus, had Saturn as its ruler… with Pluto in Aquarius, the chance of authoritarian [Saturn key word!] left-wing regimes is higher than usual).
- Power struggles around — and new definitions of — intellectual property
- Political revolutions
- The emergence of new mainstream political parties (I especially see this happening in the United States)
- Significant developments relating to outer space and space travel
- New technologies that will decrease our dependence on oil (and will spearhead ecological breakthroughs)
- Decentralization of traditional power paradigms as those who have been oppressed gain more equality and power
- And, in true Aquarius form, technologies we can’t even fathom in 2020)
- Major advances in epigenetics and nutrigenomics
Above all else — we will be alright. Over the past few months, I’ve gotten the sense that many people find the current political and economic climate destabilizing. That is understandable; we are navigating waters that are choppy, unpredictable, and deep.
In moments like these, I seek solace in thinking about the many challenges humanity has faced throughout its history. And, yet, we’re still here. I don’t say that to downplay or dismiss whatever emotions you may personally experience now. But, if there is one thing humanity has shown time and time again is its ability to adapt and evolve. Onward.
