This hundreds of years old game is so incredible outdated and needs to be updated for modern audiences or it will be DEAD in a few weeks.

Sort of a dumb comparison, but I’ll bite. Classic board, card, and tabletop games have been updated over the years, whether by new game mechanics or skins. D&D has been updated and spun off many times, there are multiple Uno games, Monopoly had the Junior version as well as MANY MANY skin changes to cater to pop culture such as Star Wars, Scrabble has a 3d version (as well as it’s many copy clones, I remember playing the yahoogames version back in the early 2000s), etc.
And to add, the behemoth of trading card games, Magic: The Gathering, which releases regular block set expansions with “new content” and changes what the “core” standard group of cards is to play in competition.
Even your simple, standard, run of the mill 52 deck of playing cards has evolved the number of games and play styles with them.
But magic doesn’t change the core dynamic on how its played and the integral systems within. Are MTG players purists cause they would disagree that we have to make a change from using mana to… whatever the hell.

It was a huge mistake to enable a CHOICE. It´s necessary that all those weird purists need to play the FRESH 2022 chess version, where pawns are equally strong as queens.
Balance changes are badly needed for this game to survive!

I quit playing around 2012 after most of my core legacy casual group left, and I just got burned out after playing since like 94 or 95. However, while the core phases themselves were never changed, the core structure was added to and evolved. The game in 2012, while the same, was not the same as the game in 1995. It was also never afraid to experiment, I think the block I enjoyed most as an adult was the future set/time something or other where they had an entire block of cross color style cards (White Burn, Black Counters, etc). I think it was Zendicar when I quit playing.
He’s being sarcastic and salty that they are updating the game, especially it’s class/skill balance.
As long as my TikTok follower number doesn´t influence my droprates, its still very very outdated.

New content would be nice though like new cards… or random cards for way to 99… like cubeable suffix affix cards/ maps… portals.
