The articles DIN (typeface) and DIN 1451 are clearly about the same subject and should be merged. The title DIN (typeface) is pretty useless (other than as a disambiguation page), as there are a number of different DIN standards that define typefaces, but these have nothing in common historically or stylistically , other than having been published by DIN. Articles that talk about particular national or international standards should always carry the number of the relevant standard in the canonical title, in this case DIN 1451, as there are tens of thousands of other DIN standards. I agree, please merge it Gürkan Sengün (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:02, 2 September 2009 (UTC).[reply]

I agree, merge. --96.4.76.1 (talk) 20:32, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments of the proposer and support the merger of DIN (typeface) into DIN 1451. I wonder why it's taking so long! -- Picapica (talk) 11:20, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Nollendorfplatz" font in the image[edit]

I'm no expert on the variants of this DIN typeface, but in my eyes the text "Nollendorfplatz" in the example image might be another typeface. At least it's not the same as the other narrow example characters in the image, and it's not as geometric as the DIN typeface as I know it. Someone with more knowledge could perhaps confirm or explain. :-) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wmattis (talkcontribs) 14:02, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The word Nollendorfplatz is written in DIN 30640, or Neuzeit Grotesque. I guess someone got confused with the different "DIN"s. 83.34.178.196 (talk) 06:31, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bad kerning in the example image[edit]

The spacing before and after the ones is much too big. It looks like DIN 1 45 1. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.139.125.186 (talk) 16:42, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of Characters in Gurmukhi Unicode range to Engschrift and Mittelschrift DIN 1451 fonts[edit]

Could someone with more experience of this than me (not that difficult) add the following to the main page with the right bits (and any further bits) in the right places, please?

MFF DIN 1451 Gurmukhi

A version of DIN 1451 designed for the Gurmukhi (Punjabi) writing system.

In 2013, MFF DIN 1451, consisting of MFF DIN 1451 Engschrift and MFF DIN 1451 Mittelschrift, was released. It was designed by Paul Alan Grosse and made available free of charge for commercial and non-commercial use.

The Latin characters in the fonts were based upon the early designs for the characters, including the "a", "t", "6" and "9" in the Engschrift font.

The designs for the Gurmukhi characters are in keeping with the style of the Latin characters in each of the fonts and include contextual substitutions for the Adhak character.

Taking into consideration that due to lack of Gurmukhi Unicode support in commercial image editing programs, most Punjabi publishing uses fonts with character mappings of Gurmukhi characters in the ASCII range (Latin characters are substituted with Gurmukhi characters), two additional versions were produced with those mappings, each of them having the suffix "A" in the font's name.

All four of the fonts are Kerned and Hinted.

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on DIN 1451. Please take a moment to review my edit.
