Today, on the 24th of August, we celebrate the 32nd anniversary of ’s Independence. Despite ’s ongoing attempts, we will never give up our sovereignty. We know that freedom is priceless, and we will prevail.
23rd of August - the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine. Blue for the sky, and yellow for the fields of wheat.
The flag got its modern look in 1848 when it was used by the Supreme Ruthenian Council. And in 1918, when Ukraine gained independence, even if for a short period of time, the blue and yellow flag was established as a national symbol.
The Soviet era that followed was marked by harsh restrictions on the use of such symbols, including the blue and yellow flag. Despite the repressions, many Ukrainians continued to embrace the flag as part of their national identity and resistance to Soviet rule.
With Ukraine restoring independence in 1991, the blue and yellow flag quickly returned to public life and became an integral part of the modern state. In 1992, the Ukrainian parliament adopted it as the official flag of Ukraine.
It is now our symbol of freedom, bravery and independence.

Although today representatives of Ukraine's indigenous peoples may reside in various regions of the state, for most of them, the historical homeland has been, is, and will remain the southern part of modern Ukraine, particularly the Crimean Peninsula.
Today, we pay tribute to the Crimean Tatars, Karaites, and Krymchaks, who, over the past centuries, have faced numerous challenges with significant consequences for these communities' culture, language, and historical consciousness.

Ukraine's indigenous peoples have contributed to restoring Ukrainian statehood and continue to play a significant role in advancing our victory today, even in the face of threats to their own lives.
On the , we are grateful to Ukraine's indigenous peoples and look forward to seeing the blue and yellow flag flying once again in their native peninsula.
The Russian temporary occupation of Crimea has caused devastating harm to the indigenous peoples who have formed on the peninsula. Specifically, throughout these years, the Russian occupying authorities have pursued a policy of intimidation, psychological pressure, imprisonment, and the enforced disappearance of Crimean Tatars.
Ukrainian legislation guarantees the rights of indigenous peoples to the full enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and international treaties recognized as binding by the Verkhovna Rada, as well as the rights and freedoms provided for in the Constitution and laws of Ukraine.
Crimea is Ukraine.
Therefore, as soon as we liberate Crimea, we will do everything necessary to protect Ukraine's indigenous peoples and hold the Russian military and authorities responsible for committing war crimes accountable.
On August 9, the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is celebrated to show annual support towards protection and promotion of the rights of indigenous people.
In Ukraine, the Crimean Tatars, Karaites, and Krymchaks are recognized as indigenous peoples, with Crimea being their ancestral homeland.
For over 9 years, representatives of Ukraine's indigenous peoples have faced unlawful actions, injustice, oppression, and persecution from the Russian Federation, which illegally annexed the peninsula.
We express solidarity with the Crimean Tatars, Karaites, and Krymchaks and sincerely appreciate their contributions to restoring Ukrainian statehood and developing Ukrainian culture.

🌎 In November 2022, during the G20 Summit in Indonesia, President of , Volodymyr Zelenskyy, presented the Peace Formula that aims to solve two key tasks: to ensure peace in Ukraine, and to guarantee security for the world.
🤝 We call on countries that respect international law and the UN Charter to join the Ukrainian Peace Formula and define the points on which they are ready to work. This will be a real contribution not only to ending the war, but also an investment in the security of their own countries.
🔹 Ukraine’s Ambassador attended a two-day conference “Victory above All” in Uzhgorod, Ukraine. It included in-person discussions with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, Ukrainian ministers and ambassadors.
🔸 The conference focused on a wide range of topics including the Peace Formula, diplomacy, economic stability, sanctions, security guarantees, EU, NATO, and reconstruction of Ukraine.
🔹 The President reiterated the importance of victories for Ukraine, both on the battlefield and in diplomacy. “Victories that will make up our great Ukrainian victory in this war for freedom and independence of our state.”

🇦🇺 Actions and inaction of every official in the security sector and in the law enforcement agencies will be evaluated - address by the President of Ukraine Good health to you, fellow Ukrainians! Today I was informed of the results of another operation against criminals who worked for the enemy. Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation together with the Security Service of Ukraine detained the former head of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. This person was dismissed by me at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, and as we can see, that decision was completely justified. Sufficient evidence has been collected to notify this person of suspicion of treason. All his criminal activities are documented. Everything he has done during these months as well as earlier will get a proper legal assessment. Everyone who together with him was part of a criminal group that worked in the interests of the Russian Federation will also be held accountable. It is about the transfer of secret information to the enemy and other facts of cooperation with the Russian special services. I want to thank everyone who participated in this operation. It can truly be called self-purification. I visited the frontline regions - the most difficult ones. I personally dealt with the activities of the law enforcement agencies in particular. On this day, 32 years ago, the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine was endorsed. It was the first document of this kind after many years, which confirmed the right of our people to live independently. Independently and in a democratic way. The specific points of the Declaration reflected the realities of that time and the hopes that prevailed in our society. 32 years later, after eight years of war in Donbas and on the 143rd day of the full-scale war against Russia, it may seem that the text of the Declaration could be different, particularly from a security point of view. But at that time this text was also of a revolutionary character. The Declaration restored the tradition of Ukrainian state-establishing, and it was on its basis that the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine was later adopted. And today, when our people are fighting for independence, we have our right in every sense of the word – historically, politically, culturally and, what is very important – legally.
