Well worth a visit - and Yellow Catamarans are great
Aug 2021
We visited the port twice - it really is very charming and pretty. We took a boat trip on the Yellow Catamarans which has a multitude of languages. It stopped for 15 mins at the top of the harbour where you could then go down stairs to review the marine life. Really interesting trip and beautiful scenery

Excellent day out!
We have visited Mahon port a number of times and enjoyed it immensely. We usually park along by the Gin Factory, which gives out lots of free samples of the different types of gin they produce, great fun! Opposite here the tour boats moor up and you can buy tickets in the kiosks here. We have been on both types of boat and the yellow one was the best and most informative. They point out where Nelson lived and where Richard Branson and his mum live! You are taken by La Mola, the old fort, and lots of interesting places along the port. When you get off, La Mola is approached by going right round the other side of the port (car necessary) and it is another day out in itself. There are lots of underground passages, tunnels and hidden places, an old creepy prison and excellent sea views. We chose one of the hottest days of the year to visit and one of the staff came to look for us in their van, to take us back to the main gate. A good trip to make on a cooler day!

Superb port of call on a cruise
Nov 2013 • Couples
Port Mahon was a delightful surprise on our cruise on the MSC Sinfonia last November . We were coming from Palma di Mallorca where we really enjoyed ourselves and we expected Port Mahon to be more or less a repeat , on a smaller scale , of what we had seen . We were pleasantly surprised to find it to be different yet as interesting !
We found everything in this small port : local culture , luxury , historical landmarks , nice restaurants , bars , parks , museums and gorgeous views !
As my wife was somewhat limited in her walking with a sore knee and Port Mahon being hilly , we opted for public transportation as our mean of sightseeing !
We took public bus 11 close to the ship and then transferred to bus 15 to tour the biggest part of the city ( both the old and the modern parts ) ! We then stopped in front of the Old Church right over the ship , visited this part of the Old Town and took the little tourist ''train'' for a one hour tour of the upper Old Town and the Marina . It is amazing how narrow some streets can be ! There was a 20 minutes stop in one of main squares where we tried some local wine and back in the train to the ship where we ended our sightseeing .
Altogether , more than 4 hours of sightseeing for less than $15 p/p (wine included) . We could at that point have added a tour of the gin factory , close by , but we were beginning to be hungry and tired
A lovely day !

Beautiful City
I visited minorca a few years back and immediately fell in love. It was a cute little romantic city. We hired a moped and toured the city. Best way to travel. We did travel via their local bus service at first, but I preferred the moped as that meant we could go out at night without having to pay hefty taxi fares.

Even though our hotel wasn't in Mao, we always paid a visit to this beautiful city. It's very quiet and romantic. Ideal place for couples. Please note that it's the Spanish culture to eat at night. I found this hard to adjust to as in England we eat dinner at 6-7pm. In minorca food was served after 9ish.

I feel like I've left a piece of my heart in minorca. Would defiantly recommend it to couples. Safe country. Was there during the football tournament. Barcelona V Real Madrid. Not sure who they were supporting but that night when we went to a club it was packed full of very goodlooking Spanish men. I should have gone there single!! Damn it.

Mahon, so beautiful
We visit Mahon every time we go to Menorca, which is almost every year. We hire a car and have at least one day in this beautiful city. The gin factory is worth a visit if only for the free samples, and if you walk along the harbor, there are some seriously expensive boats moored. The shopping is fab, cheaper gift shops to the ridiculously expensive leather and clothing shops. It is hilly, but we have never had a problem parking for free, either at the harbour or in the town area. The churches are really beautiful and there are bars up above the harbor where you can just sit, catch your breath and admire the lovely natural harbour and the boats/ships and usually there is a cruise liner moored. The boat trips are a must, the Don Joan is the one we used, well worth the price. I think my favorite city in the world
