Carolyn Sackett

We would like to wish a happy 80th birthday to Carolyn Sackett. After graduating from Iowa State University in 1961, Carolyn married Dick Sackett, and moved to the Wheaton area in Illinois, where she and her husband raised four children. At Bethel OPC in Wheaton, she helped with the Pioneer Club for multiple decades. In the 1990s Carolyn developed a Nature Camp Discovery Series that combined the gospel and a love of Nature for the youth at Bethel Church. Used for Vacation Bible School, the lessons brought together the curiosity that children have with the world that God created and what God has done in sending his Son to save sinners. When the Sacketts joined Covenant of Grace OPC in Sugar Grove, Illinois, the church there also started to use the lessons, as have other congregations in the Chicagoland area. Covenant of Grace OPC is trying out an eighth theme this year on “Habitats”. It will be ready for publication next fall.
