Neighbourhood: Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.

Great Interactive Museum!
Aug. 2021 • Solo
Interesting tour with lots of interactive exhibits! Our guide was very enthusiastic & knowledgeable and provided extra interaction points for the kids in our group. Easy to find: reserve time slot online, meet in hotel lobby at that time, and a uniformed guide will come to get you! As of Aug 2021, tours were running daily in Czech and English.

Cold war rooms
Mar. 2020
Great little museum hidden under the hotel. Just shows how paranoid humans can be. There did not appear to be any signs up outside the hotel, just go in and ask at the reception desk. The guy behind the desk took us down, but if we had wanted a different language (than English) there was probably someone else at the hotel who would be that days guide.
It's really just a few rooms in the basement, and the owners have collected the type of things that were in use there, to show what went on. There is a hospital room, air filteration room, radio room, etc. With lots of hatches leading to tunnels. Some you can walk through until you come to a ladder that takes you back up into the square outside, then you realise how deep you are. Lots of weapons on display, and uniforms and hats, with some you can wear for a photograph.
Lots of old pictures and propoganda style posters.

Fascinating experience
Mar. 2020
We were told about this at the tourist information office, hadn’t seen it advertised anywhere. What a fascinating experience, so interesting we were able to crawl through an escape tunnel and touch the displays. Excellent place to visit.

Must-do in Prague! Ask for David!
Mar. 2020 • Friends
I did this tour many years ago when a receptionist took you down and let you just see the bunker (quite empty at the time). But now it has been restored and with a guided tour. It is a must-do in Prague. Ask for David, he made the tour one of the best experiences I’ve had in Prague!

Immerse yourself in the Communist Experience
Mar. 2020
I toured the Cold War Museum and had the most amazing guide - David! He is extremely knowledgeable about the time period - key politicians, the political climate in (Czechoslovakia) and surrounding countries, and every day life for people living in Prague at that time. I grew up in the US during the 80's and there was always the specter of nuclear war w Russia. I remember stories of high profile people defecting. But-until visiting this museum, I just didn't have a good appreciation for life under the 'cruel star' of communism. The collection is fascinating - I especially loved seeing the spy equipment that was used at the time that enabled 'Big Brother' to listen in on conversations of hotel guests (the bunker was built below the hotel Jalta, as mentioned). Just fascinating! Prague is full of history - and I highly recommend this museum to enrich your visit. Note to David-I found that Amazon has the book "Under a Cruel Star". Also, as we discussed - check out Anne Applebaum - Iron Curtain! Thank you so much for a great tour!!

I had a tour with David today. He was fantastic: enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very patient with questions. It was a really interesting tour and the bunker is very atmospheric. I highly recommend it.

Fun and Interactive Tour
Dec. 2019
This was an unexpectedly fun and interactive tour. You meet at the Hotel Jalta on Wenceslas Square. Your guide meets you in the lobby and takes you to a bunker underneath the hotel and describes the various rooms and functions of them during the communist era. Our guide was Barbara and she was excellent.

War bunker experience
Jan. 2020 • Couples
although as a women this normally wouldn't be my sort of thing, I went along for my husband.

It was actually a really good experience but only because the guide was so passionate about the information and history he told us about and because he actually lived through the communist era. His stories were heartfelt and made the whole experience real.

I would highly recommend this tour and go as far as to say anyone visiting Prague should experience it
