For the fourth episode of Trailer Talk, Laura Alexander and I discuss the 2015 film The Danish Girl. In the first half of the podcast we discuss the film before either of us have seen it. We talk about research we have conducted on the film, our expectations and the trailers. During the second half of the podcast we reconvene and give our (spoiler-free) reviews of the film.

Laura and I are both very interested in the social issues of today including LGBTQ rights and feminism. This film helps us to further understand the struggles that many transgender men and women experienced in the 1920s and still experience today.

Topics discussed in this Trailer Talk include the true story of Lili Elbe (the subject of the film) the performances of lead actors Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander and a transgender woman’s take on the film.
