Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

The walk is worth the climb and the effort, the grounds are extensive and the views over Prague are worth the visit alone. Lots of history and things to see. Even on a cold day the walk is worth it.

Visiting the Castle hill in the winter is very cold, and if you don't splurge on a ticket, very boring. In terms of other castles in the region, this one is not worth doing except for the trip up, unless you pay to get inside.

Me and my wife visited the Prague Castle in June. We decided to make a trip to Prague, because there were less tourist diu the pandemic restrictions and it was 100% worth it. We walk thru the whole area of the Castle, made photos without any difficulty with other people in the shot. After that we tooked the stairs down to the Charles bridge and made a round walk around the Castle

Best place to see architecture, to take a lot of photos and get inspired. Best time to visit end of summer or beginning of spring. I recommend to have an evening walk.

this place is not just a Castle but a complete old town with the Castle and Cathedral and other buildings around. All the visit could be free without gettting into the Castle itself. Also visit to the Cathedral is free but you won't be able to pass the first 30 feet which is good to look around the church.
With just one ticket there are multiple places to visit including the Castle, the Cathedral, etc and the only extra ticket was to get up into the tower which was really amazing.
I think it is a must and you can easily spend half a day around this place.

While the changing of the guard and the castle front is interesting to see, I found the big square and its surrounding buildings more interesting. For example, the extensive use of "sgraffito", a large street lamp of entwined Mucha-like women, and the Masaryk statue with flowing pennants carrying his words really touched me.

The highlight of Prague. This area is a must see, The castle grounds are amazing. I really enjoyed my visit here.
but be aware if you buy tickets you get 50 percent off a boat tour.
We did the boat tour the day before, but it's worth noting to do it in the other order to save some cash.

It's a nice place to visit, when in Prague. There is a lot to see on the outside but very little on the inside. If your adore church visits, then paying to see this is worth it. I would recommend visiting the exterior grounds as there are lots to see and do in Prague. The question is, what is most relevant for the time you have in Prague?
