If in Geneva NOT for business and have time, see the old city of Geneva. It is really quite interesting and beautiful. And if there, VISIT this impressive archaeological site. You see the history of Geneva, as evidenced by the history of this site from before the time of Jesus, right up until today, through the layers of the archaeological diggings right underneath the cathedrale. Really quite fascinating to see 2,000 years of history clearly displayed in one place. One negative though that the administrators should really consider changing. I used the audio recording to guide me through the place, and the major negative of that recording is that to really understand everything it talks about, you need to have an advanced degree in mediaeval and baroque architecture of cathedrals. They use FAR TOO MUCH jargon in the audio and consequently if you don't know your maedieval architectural jargon, you are lost immediately for the rest of that sentence or concept. Very frustrating. Surely they could have expplained the same stuff with FAR LESS jargon speaking to those without advanced degrees in architecture. More historical overview describing not just what we see, but why it mattered in context, in my opinion, would make the audio recording more valuable than the constant droning about architectural detail. But even that's a detail. The fact is this is a very special place to be and thing to do in Geneva. If there, do this. Oh, and its surprisingly cheap so you have no excuse not to.

Located in the old city. The view from the spire is panoramic on a clear day. It is worth the climb.

I talk about bathrooms because I usually need to go to one. There are public toilets near the church but they were lacking what I consider the basics. We got tickets to see the museum about Calvin, the church including the towers and the geologic dig. The church was built on the church again and again. They had a lovely bathroom. We paid for the English translation and this was one of the few places that did not have much English information so it was worthwhile. We spent a while in the church then we went to the geologic dig. Oh my goodness there was so much information on that. I'm not ever going on a dig but I got to see what they found. There was so much information about the older parts of the church. We spent longer than we expected and were ready for lunch when we left.

The church is uphill from the lake. I walked up there several times but it's steep.

One of many things to visit in Old Town. Great place to sit, rest and take in the architecture. Definitely worth visiting.

Included this cathedral. It was interesting and very majestic in terms of what we saw in Geneva. Worth visiting but not spectacular in terms of cathedrals we have visited. We live in Washington DC, lived in NYC and traveled world wide.
