With humble respect, Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Dorothy J. Earls of Midway, Alabama on Thursday, August 10, 2017.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Thursday, August 17,2017 at 11:00 am from the sanctuary of the Cooper Chapel AME Zion Church, 11535 Co Rd 10 Warrior Stand Community, Union Springs, Alabama 36089.
Words of comfort will be rendered by the Rev John Leonard.
Interment will follow in the. Cooper Chapel AME Zion Cemetery.
Mrs.Earls will lie in repose at the church, one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dorothy Earls was born on March 27, 1951 to the late Mr. Cleophas Campbell and Ms. Juanita Donner in Macon County, Alabama.
Mrs. Dorothy Earls confessed Christ at an early age and joined Dawson Baptist Church, Roba, Alabama. Later, she married the love of her life, John, who gave her the nickname “Woman”. She joined St. Mark AME Church, Hurtsboro, Alabama, where she served as a faithful member. Dorothy served as the secretary for St. Mark AME Church for 40 years until 2015. Presently, she served on the Steward Board, member of the Missionary Society, President of the Pastor Aide Society, and President of the Benevolent Committee.
Mrs. Dorothy Earls was employed at Tuskegee University until retirement in 2014. Dorothy was affectionately known in the community as “Dot Earls”.
Mrs. Dorothy Earls departed this life on August 10, 2017. She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving husband, John Earls, Midway, Alabama; two daughters, Angela Donner and Johnnay Earls both of Phenix City, Alabama; two granddaughters, DeMonika Donner and Haeden Donner both of Montgomery, Alabama; two great-grandsons, Camden Crittenton and Rhylan Donner; six sisters, Barbara Chambliss, Emma (Willie) Wright, Beatrice Donner, Velma Campbell, Ethel Campbell Howard, Queen Campbell all of Tuskegee, Alabama; seven brothers, Clint (Denise) Doner, Tuskegee, Alabama, Michael (Christina) Donner, Keith (Lora) Baker both of Montgomery, Alabama, Cleophas Campbell Jr., Tuskegee, Alabama, James Otis Campbell, Clio, Alabama, Roosevelt Baker, Jr., Maurice Woods, Both of Tuskegee, Alabama, and Marcus Campbell, Tuskegee, Alabama; mother-in-law, Annie B. Earl, Midway, Alabama; brother-in-law, William (Addie) Earl Jr., Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Isabella (James) Walker, Miami, Florida, Mary (Michael) Todd, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Irene Earl, Riverdale, Georgia, Edna Earl Phillips, Akron, Ohio, Mable Earl, Sharpsburg, Georgia, Alice Earl, Atlanta, Georgia, Lucy Earl, Forest Park, Georgia; special cousin, Earl Harris, Jr.; special friends, Lillie Echols, Arthur Love, Benny Jones, Stacie Henderson, Bobbie Jean Perry, Thomas Perry, Jr., Earl Jackson, Jerrell James, Felicia White, Robert Davis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
