I have had a week on Lanzarote and wanted to have a guided walk amongst the volcanoes during the week to discover more about them, but I hadn’t been able to make arrangements before I arrived. In the Arrecife Gran Hotel a tourist information display had a leaflet for Lanzarote Active Club. The hotel reception contacted them on my behalf and they called me back within a few minutes to discuss arrangements for a trek to Monte Corona on the following day (Tuesday) and a trek to three volcanoes on Thursday.

The groups were led by Carmen and Francesca who are both multi-lingual and consider it to be part of their jobs for the various nationalities they take on treks. The tours were excellent, on both days I was met at the hotel at the agreed time. Carmen and Francesca have good knowledge of the island, the volcanoes, vegetation and wildlife. There were small groups on both days which enabled individual questions to be answered.
