Donna and I became friends because her children and my children were friends. Jason and Peter were in the same class at Nancy Creek Elementary school. Kim and my son Michael and went to Chamblee high school together. Jason, Peter and various friends were always hanging out together at Donna’s house or at my house. When I became separated and divorced from my husband, Donna was there every step of the way giving me the support I needed. When the same thing happened to her, I tried to do the same for her. It was a tough time for both of us but we were always there for each other.
I have many great memories of our times together.
One Christmas Eve we wanted to do something special. We decided to have dinner together with our children in the restaurant on the top of the Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel in Atlanta. The restaurant had a great view of the city and slowly turned throughout the evening so the view was always different. There weren’t many people there that evening so we were able to be silly and laugh together throughout our delicious meal. It was a very lovely, memorable evening. On our drive home to Chamblee, we sang Christmas carols at the top of our lungs all the way back.
I remember how much she loved square dancing. That is where she met her husband Ronnie. She told me how much Ronnie meant to her and I was so happy for them when they married.
Donna was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and friend. She always looked for the bright side of life and never lost her sense of humor. She was a joy to know and to be with. She will be greatly missed by all of us that she left behind.

Donna created special memories for me growing up. She was a loving mom to Kim & Jason & all Kim and Jason's friends. With Donna we always knew we were welcome which meant so much at that time being a teenager. Donna made me feel good & that I was important. She made everyone feel that way. Donna loved to spend time with Kim, Jason & their friends. As a teenager I remember one night when Donna went out with Kim, Devon, Mark & myself. We were on a mission to find a night club that would work for a single mom & a group of teenagers ! We ending up stopping by a hotel off Holcomb Bridge to check out the night life @ the hotel bar / restaurant area. We never went in....* probably for lack of ID... But for over 30 years, when I pass this hotel my heart warms with memories of Donna's efforts. So special.

Donna, I know you are with Jason now smiling & waiting patiently for us.

Love, Mike Rodriguez

My heart goes out to you all during this difficult time. Donna was a warm, kind, and fun-loving person. She was a wonderful Mom! During my childhood, I enjoyed spending time at Kim’s house and I remember thinking how incredible her Mom was. Donna always made sure that Kim and I had the best time.
She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. I wish you peace and comfort in the days to come.
With Love and Deepest Sympathy,
Kathy

On this Sunday, Wendy and I give thanks for the blessing of knowing Donna. We have such fond memories of her from Mark's childhood days growing up in Chamblee, to our marriage and through raising our kids. Donna touched so many lives in the time she was on this earth. While we were saddened to hear of her passing, we find comfort in knowing she is not only in good hands, but that she is reunited with her son Jason. Our minds will continue to be fixed on the image of Donna with that wonderful smile! Losing a loved one is difficult under any circumstance. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ronnie, Kim and the entire family. God bless. Mark and Wendy Willis

Donna was a light. She was such a special person, and a positive force in the lives of everyone who knew her. She certainly was for my Mom Sandy, my brother Pete, and me. She was a loyal and supportive friend to my Mom, and helped keep her sane during my parents’ divorce. This was all while going through her own divorce, and tending to her son Jason’s health issues. She was so strong. Our families were very close in those days, and we managed to have a lot of laughs through some very difficult times. I’ll never forget that, and have always felt that connection as life moved on. I also will never forget when Donna and my Mom were the chaperons for a big group of friends from Chamblee High School on a Spring Break trip to Panama City, Florida. They were so fun, just rolled with all of it, and trusted us not to get into too much trouble. Actually, I think that had a lot more to do with Donna, than my Mom! Donna was definitely the calmer of the two. I have a huge smile on my face, thinking about those times. Kim, you have always been like a sister to me. Even though I live across the country, and we have only seen each other rarely in the last few years, I think of you often. I am always here for you, and am just a phone call away. My heart goes out to you, Ronnie, and your families. I am so sorry for your loss. I am taking comfort in the fact that Donna is reunited with Jason and watching over you, and all of us. She will never be forgotten. ❤️
