Before covid Chicago was an amazing place to be; so much to see, do and eat. Soooo much history and the 19th century architecture is beyond beautiful. Hopefully some day I will be able to walk Michigan Ave, Navy Pier and all the amazing old neighborhoods again without the mask police around. :-)
This is a great location to enjoy Lake Michigan as well as many restaurants and activities for all ages. It can get very busy especially when it is cold and everyone is inside keeping warm. There is a lot of parking else Navy Pier can be reached by the bus which drops you off outside the main entrance. Also a great place to look back and obtain some Chicago skyline shops. If you are looking for Chicago related souvenir gift shops - then you will find plenty at Navy Pier. You can anything from T-shirts, magnets, postcards and much more.
An attractive site with an indoor shopping and eating area. The grounds are lovely but the indoor shopping and eating is a bit mediocre. They do feature a variety of outdoor events in the summer such as movies an concerts.
Fabulous place to people watch, eat an organic cookie or juicy burger, and/or take a water cruise of the pier and bay area. Tip- if you have any mobility issues at all, I suggest you rent a scooter. The Pier, and most of the rest of Chicago's sights, involves a LOT of walking. There are several scooter rental companies, compare prices and scooter styles- I suggest the "travel" type that breaks down into several manageable pieces. ALWAYS bring the charging cord, and charge at every opportunity. That 45 minutes while you're eating is a great time to charge- ask the staff wherever you are for plug-in, and take the key.
I feel like our review would be better if the timing was different. We still enjoyed ourselves, just walking around to enjoy the views, taking a ride on the Centennial Wheel, and even acting like little kids by playing the little boat game. As it were, the main reason we visited was to see the Crystal Gardens, which was closed off, along with a large chunk of, well, everything else. Maybe it was just the time we visited, but regardless we still had a good time. Would recommend, just make sure you check ahead if possible to see if things are up and running.
Great in the summer with the outside beer garden (although still open in September). There are so many places to eat - make sure you walk all the way through the main building as the eateries continue quite far. Big wheel in the evening before sunset provides amazing views of the city.
The location of Freehand is amazing! It is right downtown, in an excellent area, with very quick access to Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, restaurants, etc. The staff were also friendly and treated everyone very well as I saw.
Rooms were amazing! The view was spectacular of the lake and navy pier. The beds were extremely comfy !
