Chad Stahelski, or Charles Stahelski, is an American actor, stuntman, film director, and producer. Officially known as Charles F. Stahelski, Chad Stahelski was born on 20 September 1968 in the USA. He became popular after replacing
after the accident on the set of the movie The Crow. Since his early days, Chad Stahelski was a kick-boxer. He initially worked as an instructor at the Inosanto Martial Arts Academy in California, where he taught Jeet Kune Do or Jun Fan. It was at the age of 24 that he entered the film industry as a stuntman. He then did many roles in low-budget martial arts films like Mission of Justice (1992) and Bloodsport III (1996). His big break in the film industry arrived when he replaced Brandon Lee in The Crow after the actor met with an accident on the set which killed him.
He said that he was able to replace him because they both had trained together at the Inosanto Martial Arts Academy. Chad Stahelski also worked with
in the movie The Matrix (1999). In the following sequences, he doubled for the actor for extremely tough shots and also worked as the martial arts stunts coordinator. Initially, he turned down the offer to work as the double for Keanu Reeves in The Matrix, sure that he would not be able to get through the audition. But his boss made him attend the audition, and he got the role. Chad Stahelski formed a group called Smashcut with his stunt colleagues which coordinated cool stunts in many great movies and TV shows. He has specialized in martial arts, high falls, fire burns, acrobatic reactions, precision driving, etc.
He has also directed and produced films. Chad Stahelski co-directed the film
. Keanu Reeves and
starred in the movie which was released on October 24, 2014, by Summit Entertainment and turned out to be a highly grossed film. He is currently working on the sequel John Wick: Chapter Two, which is directed by him alone.
