Breakfast with Scot is a bit of formulaic movie making. A gay couple suddenly has a precocious kid dropped into their home. Hilarity and tender moments follow, all ending happily ever after naturally. It is a bit of sparkly fluff.
The actor playing the kid is pretty good. The hockey dad is excellent, but the lawyer is a little bit flat. I don't see much chemistry between these two straight actors playing gay men.
It's groundbreaking that the NHL and Toronto Maple Leafs allowed the movie to use the Leafs' logo and name in this movie. And the fact that Don Cherry was opposed to it is icing on the cake.
