Ex-detective Jon Roscoe was head of security at London’s luxurious Tribeca Hotel and he thought he’d seen it all, until the day the persistent reporter tried to breach the grounds and enter the hotel. But once again, Roscoe evicted him, threatening him with police action if he showed his face again.

Roscoe and his team were protecting the billionaire businessman who was currently on trial at the Old Bailey for attempted murder. He and his long suffering wife of twenty years were in a suite of ap

Patterson and Gold return for another joint writing assignment in the BookShot collection. Jon Roscoe remains head of Global Security for the Tribeca Luxury Hotel chain, anchoring himself at the glamorous London establishment. During a high-profile criminal trial, the hotel is housing the defendant, billionaire Harvey Rylands. Accused of attempting to murder his lover, Elegant Daniels, Rylands has done all he can to drag out alternate theories of the crime, while acting as though he is above rep ...more

Really enjoyed this one too. As I said, Roscoe is a good character. Engaging, honest and reminiscent of an action movie hero, its hard not to enjoy reading about his escapades in these books. And that poor Tribeca Hotel is giving him serious trouble! These are addictive! Short, fast paced and laced with action. An easy read!

I usually like James Patterson books be that a full novel or a bookshot but this was just boring, same old tale which just felt stretched out to fill the amount of pages required.

I liked the story and I thought it was wrapped up pretty well at the end. I only picked this up because I was waiting for another book that I had reserved at the library. I will continue to read more of Patterson's BookShots as they give me a break in between reading normal sized books, although I probably won't read another Jon Roscoe as I didn't really care for him as a character. The only problems I had with this book were the obvious symbols of London being included in the descriptions to hi ...more

Since the Jon Roscoe series are Book Shots they are short and fast paced filled with tons of action.

Another of James Patterson's shorter novella's - meaning even less character development than usual. This is also the second in a series about a geezer named Jon Roscoe, although the term series is pretty loose, because he is fairly superfluous to the plot, and you learn basically nothing about him, so it could have been anyone really - but anyways - typical non-sensical twists and turns and unbelievable conclusions where it all neatly resolves make this another poor Patterson and the continued ...more

I enjoyed the first book in this series, however, I just couldn't get into this one. The story just didn't grip me, I expected more because it is a book shot, but I found the pace to slow. I don't think you will be missing anything by skipping this short story and going straight to the third in the series. Extremely disappointing. ...more

This proved to be the ideal length to read on a plane flight to Darwin. Fast paced, interesting characters and plenty of action.
Quite an effective novella length story- perfect way to start a holiday.

Yet again another brilliant Bookshot read, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I love these short stories especially when I’m not sure what to read next.
This book is the second in the Jon Roscoe thrillers trilogy and now I can’t wait to read the last book in the series.
Jon Roscoe is Head of Security for the very rich and famous Tribeca chain of hotels and is stationed at the luxurious London branch.

An interesting follow-up to The Hostage. Jon Roscoe gets involved in a trial case due to the fact that the suspect and his wife stay in the hotel for which he is the head of security. His 'aunt' is a member of the Jury, which is a bit too coincidental but a plot device needed to provide insight into what happens during the trial. A nice thriller with a good twist and a satisfying ending. ...more

This was a different experience for me - I wouldn't call this a novella nor would I call it a short story - perhaps somewhere in between. This had all the hallmarks of Patterson's typical writing: short chapters, page turning and a twist I didn't see coming. A great little book to read within a day or on a plane journey. Hopefully I can read some more of these in future. ...more

A fast paced mystery thriller that is engaging at first but by the end becomes predictable. Although it has been written in apt language and not over the top description, it does put out a smile on your face (the one that you get when you figure out something and feel like Sherlock Holmes).
Read it. You'll enjoy it.

What's this book is not a direct sequel to The hostage I do feels as an excellent book featuring the character Jon Roscoe.

I really enjoyed that we got to learn more about Roscoe's personal life including that he had children.
The actual narrative itself was very interesting as well but not to draw now I think this was the perfect length for me.

Not the best bookshot that I have read but I did enjoy it. I found I didn't get a connection with the characters like I do with other books. I like the quickness of the action in the bookshot and think it would have been drawn out too long had it been a regular novel. ...more

A good read, although I a, confused why a character who despised a cop who was dirty in the last book is suddenly extremely violent to several other characters without even trying a different resolution.
