I watched it all the way through, fast forwarding only a few times. This is the worst Diane Keaton movie I've ever seen. She is near hysterical through most of the movie. And when she's hysterical, her pitch goes up, up, up. And so do the pitches of her girls. Get them all together and...cover your ears. And, btw, any young (or not) woman on a date with a man for the first time does not go home with him. That's asking for trouble. Of course, in a simple-minded movie like this, nothing bad happens to Diane's little girl, but you can't count on that in the real world.

It is nteresting reading reviews of many films that get bad reviews. Frankly, it is ridiculous that someone may expect much from certain movies, get disappointed and place a negative review about what he or she experienced and not about the movie, really. This is a Hollywood chic movie with a couple of known names. Plot, script, and premises are not something to talk about. It brings a couple of peals of laughter, nothing spectacular, but it is not indeed a comedy film. It is a little movie about a bit of something in a family of a mother and her three children — one who does not get dates because she doesn't know how to. Mother enters the field by using a dating service. Although it works, it complicates life between mother and daughter and the siblings... well, cover for their mother. Performances are adequate for no real character development. This film was not made to awe anyone, including IMBD. Likely got some audience but was not a hit. That is what you can expect from this movie after you read the description, not more. I enjoyed it though.
Lauren Graham and Diane Keaton are two of my favorites. This script is so awful, with cliche characters, hokey dialogue, and eyeroll predictability. I was embarrassed for Lauren and Diane that they were in this. It's as bad as a Hallmark or Lifetime movie.

Cute concept. Awful script. Unbelievable dialogue. Iffy acting. Completely unbelievable course of events. Also not buying the casual singing act. The entire movie is total Hollywood, night in shining armor fantasy land with overdone tropes and jokes. And why is Piper Perabo even in this movie? Her character is a complete afterthought. I suspect it's because the writers wanted another wedding. There is one moment of honesty in this film: Toward the end when Diane Keaton says she was trying to help her daughter not turn into herself; that was a beautiful moment. I also enjoyed Stephen Collins for the most part and Gabriel Macht was lovely to look at.
Very Chaotic, very typical Diane Keaton as a REAL Helicopter Mom, but cute story line and it held my interest. Although there were times I wanted to Throttle Keaton and tell her to mind her own F.... business.
I think I've had my share of female demographic relationship films with an emphasis on the mother daughter parallels of intimacy with their men in question. Pretty much the formula for a successful female film is spicing up relationships and working in themes of acceptance and forgiveness for social faux paus aplenty when it comes to suspecting a man of being disloyal or disinterested.
Again, as pre my previous review of another Diane Keaton film, this one doesn't have any flatulence gags nor teen-oriented put down humor. Sex is abundant in this film, but kept in a very PGi like vein. Why this film is not on the free list, and is on the rental list of films, I'll never know, because it's not that good a film compared to other films of the genre.
I guess the thing that gets me about these movies is that they're all the same. Everyone says that about a genre they're not familiar with or don't know that well, but truly, as a male who was raised on romantic comedies from the likes of "Man's Favorite Sport" and "The Thrill of it All", I think I can safely say that the romantic comedy is always a welcome pastime … kind of like a good baseball game. You like watching it, and enjoy it, and note the exciting moments, but it's not a deeply moving genre that sticks with you.
And perhaps that's my biggest criticism of this film and the genre as a whole. Here the males don't seem very proactive, but are more or less objects for mani0puation as the female characters sort out their emotional angsts with one another before deciding to take the emotional plunge with the male of their choice. And, as can be expected, there's a lot of emotional frivolity in this film and others of its ilk that, quite frankly, isn't very appealing. Then again these are female fantasy films about families striking out for new male partners, but having to sort through things that upset them about their "BFFs".
Well, no dogfights, no fire fights, no starships zipping through asteroid fields, but, on that same note, there's no Doris Day, Jud Garland nor even a Paula Prentiss, Just a Diane Keaton and dude from Star Trek the motion picture with a lot of talented, but non0recognizeable supporting cast.
I've often said it many times. Movies are fun, but they are stupid. This one fits that description. Not a bad film as such, but a little lacking, somewhat predictable, and otherwise making emotional mountains out of mole hills.
See it once, but there are better films out there.
I love Diane Keaton but this movie was very disappointing. All characters were very predictable and stereotypical, dialogs full of clichés, nervous laughs or hysterical scenes, the plot primitive, silly and shallow. Totally waist of time.
Item received in good order considering that was used. No problem there. I loved this film it was fun and the actors are so good, I'm great admirer of Diane Keaton and she is as good as ever. Very enjoyable!
