William Powell The Anarchist Cookbook : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet ArchiveSkip to main content
The Anarchist Cookbook, first published in 1971, is a book that contains instructions for the manufacture of explosives, rudimentary telecommunications phreaking devices, and related weapons, as well as instructions for home manufacturing of illicit drugs, including LSD. It was written by WilliamPowell at the apex of the counterculture era to protest against United States involvement in the Vietnam War. Powell converted to Anglicanism in 1976, and later attempted to have the book removed from circulation, but the copyright belonged to the publisher who continued circulation until the company was acquired in 1991. Its legality has been questioned in several jurisdictions.

Rather symbol of protest than useful manual
This cookbook contains a lot of rubbish like dangerous recipes or complex recipes for compounds that nobody really needs (like tetryl, for example). Therefore, it is more likely to discourage an anarchist (or other kind of rebel, freedom fighter or revolutionary) from making energetic materials useful for his cause.
This book should only be read with extreme caution. Always remember that it is not written by an expert, but by a student protesting against some inhumane war waged by some fascist country. So it's more a symbol of anti-imperialism than a real cookbook. If you are looking for recipes for biscuits, cookies, cakes, puddings and scones I suggest you look elsewhere. Look up organic chemistry books or Wikipedia.
