Eugene Airport

Located near Highway 99 about 7 miles northwest of Eugene, EUG is a small and easily navigated airport with one terminal and two sets of gates on two levels. Baggage claim is located on the lower level along with the "B" gates while the "A" gates are on the top level. Alaska Airlines, Allegiant, Delta, American Airlines and United all offer flights to Eugene.

Transportation is available via the Airport Connector, which links a bus with Lane Transit District Route 95 to downtown Eugene. Several rental car agencies have counters at the airport, and OmniShuttle provides transportation throughout the Eugene/Springfield area. The cost of a taxi to downtown Eugene is around $30-$40. The airport also serves the nearby town of Springfield, and taxis to Springfield will cost around $45.

Attractions in Eugene

Running enthusiasts may want to visit the Steve Prefontaine Memorial Jogging Trail, named for the famous runner, as well as the historic Hayward Field. For hiking within the city itself, Skinner's Butte can be reached on foot from downtown and offers a beautiful view of the city along with hiking trails and rock climbing locations.

The areas around the university and the downtown area offer the most interesting selection of shops and restaurants. Performing arts venues, including the Hult Center and WOW Hall, are also in the downtown area, as is Eugene's Farmer's Market, which has been in operation for decades.

Visitors may want to opt for a hotel in the attractive downtown area of Eugene to allow easy access to shopping, restaurants, breweries and other cultural activities. Downtown Eugene is small and walkable. Across the Willamette River, about 3 miles from the core of downtown, more hotels can be found.

The Bach Festival is a major event for classical music fans, and world-class composers and musicians travel from all over the globe to perform at the event. One of the other major happenings of the year is the Oregon Country Fair, held just outside of Eugene. It's a holdover from the 1960s that will have attendees feeling as though that decade never ended.

Eugene has an assortment of cinemas, music venues and shopping areas, and outdoor activities are particularly popular, with beaches, skiing, hiking, rafting and more within an hour or so of the city.
