The King and Queen visit the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
Published
The King, as the newly appointed Patron of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and Queen, have visited the Academy to celebrate the school’s 120th anniversary, meeting staff, students and alumni.
As the new Patron of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), The King has made his first visit to the school, accompanied by The Queen.
RADA's world-leading training in the dramatic and production arts nurtures creative expression, empowers individuals and seeks to influence positive change in the creative industries and wider community.
The Academy’s association with the Royal Family goes back over 100 years, stemming from their Royal Charter granted in 1920. The late Queen Elizabeth II held the Patronage of RADA from 1952 until her death in 2022.
On arrival, Their Majesties were introduced to former students: actor and President of RADA, David Harewood, and actress, singer and Vice President, Cynthia Erivo.
Touring the school, The King and Queen met students perfecting their craft in the spheres of performance, set design, costume and more.
For over a century, RADA has been a centre of excellence; a world leader in dramatic arts training, transforming the next generation of talent.
