Faber/Weatherall engagement

 The engagement was announced 27 May, 2022, between Luke Christopher Michael Faber [born 1990], second son of Mark James Julian Faber [1950-1991], the cricketer, and his wife the former Anne Griffith [now Mrs Alexander Muir, wife of Alexander Pepys Muir, a grandson maternally of the 10th Duke of Marlborough], & Stella Nony Weatherall [born 1991], daughter of [Edward] Percy Keswick Weatherall, of Holywood, Dumfries, and his wife the former Clara Mary Johnston [born 1960].

Luke Faber is a great-grandson of the former Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, 1st Earl of Stockton, OM, PC, FRS [1894-1986].

Stella Weatherall is descended maternally from the Paget baronets, and paternally from the Keswick landed family. Stella's aunt, Isobel Weatherall, was the first wife of the late 18th Earl of Strathmore & Kinghorne.


Lucy Jane Newton [nee Otter] 1932-2022

 Lucy Jane Newton [nee Otter], who died 20 May, 2022, aged 89, was descended from the Troubridge baronets, the Earls of Albemarle, and King Charles II &c.

She was born 20 December, 1932, fourth daughter of Lieutenant-Col. Robin Otter, MC [1888-1965], and his wife the former Mary Laura Troubridge [1894-1982], and married 1 Oct, 1955, Francis Denzil Newton [who died 7 Aug, 2013], by whom she had issue, a son, Thomas [born 29 Apr, 1958], and two daughters, Charlotte [born 25 Oct, 1956], and Sarah [born 20 Dec, 1959, deceased]

John Wentworth Beaumont 1989-2022

 John Wentworth Beaumont, who died suddenly 22 May, 2022, aged 32, was a scion of the Viscounts Allendale.

He was born in 1989, the second son of the Hon Mark Henry Beaumont [born 21 July, 1950], and his wife the former Diana Elizabeth Benson, and was a grandson paternally of the late 3rd Viscount Allendale [1922-2002].

Sir Edward Evans-Lombe 1937-2022

 Sir Edward Evans-Lombe, a former High Court judge, and head of that landed gentry family, died 20 May, 2022. He was 85.

Edward Evans-Lombe was Called to the Bar by The Inner Temple in 1963 and took silk 1978. He was appointed as a High Court judge in 1993 and as a member of the Competition Appeal Tribunal in 2004. He retired as a judge in 2008. He was elected a Governing Bencher of the Inn of the Inner Temple in 1985.  He was knighted in 1993.

He was born 10 Apr, 1937, son of Vice-Admiral Sir Edward Malcolm Evans-Lombe, KCB [1901-74], and his wife the former Diana Vivien Katharine Mackeson [1905-87]; and married 2 Apr, 1964, Frances Marilyn Mackenzie, daughter of Robert Ewen Mackenzie, of Minster Yard, Lincoln, by whom he had a son and three daughters. The son, Nicholas [born in 1966], succeeds as head of the landed gentry family,


Mary Campbell Balfour [nee Penney] [1928-2022]

 Mary Campbell Balfour [nee Penney] died 18 May, 2022.

She was born Mary Campbell Penney in 1928, daughter of Major-General Sir [William] Ronald Campbell Penney, KBE, CB, DSO, MC [1896-1964], and his wife the former Shirley Gurner [1902-60], and married in 1951, Michael John Balfour [born 17 Oct 1925], scion of that Scots family of Balfour of Balbirnie [from whom descends the Earl of Balfour], son of Duncan Balfour and his wife the former Jeanne Picot, by whom she had issue.

Angus Peregrine Oliver Bowyer [born 2022]

 Verena Elpseth Crawley Bowyer [born 1992, nee Smith], wife of Robert J. Bowyer, and scion of the Woollcombe landed gentry family, gave birth to a son, Angus Peregrine Oliver, 16 May, 2022.

Robert Bowyer is a son of Mr & Mrs Jonathan Bowyer, of Coniston, Cumbria.

Verena Smith is the eldest daughter of Oliver Geoffrey Woollcombe Smith [born 12 August, 1947], of Healaugh, near Tadcaster, Yorkshire, scion of the Samuel Smith brewing family, by his wife the former Priscilla Mary Elspeth Crawley [born 1959].


Denham/Toogood engagement

 The engagement was announced 25 May, 2022, between Alfred Kenneth H. Denham [born 1995], son of Charles Patrick H. Denham [1957-2011], and his wife the former Susannah M. Torr [born 1961], and Alexandra Kate Toogood [born 1994], daughter of Michael William Toogood, of London, and his wife the former Katharine Margaret Chetwynd [born 24 June, 1965], scion of the Viscounts Chetwynd.

Alexander William Houston 1928-2022

Alexander William Houston, died 18 May, 2022. He was 94.

He was born in 1928, son of Archibald Houston, of Ansford Lodge, Castle Cary, Somerset, and married 27 June, 1953, the Hon Averil Vivian [1930-2022], third daughter of the 3rd Baron Swansea [1875-1934], and his wife the Hon Winifred Hamilton [1884-1944], daughter of the 1st Baron Holmpatrick [1839-98], and his wife the former Lady Victoria Alexandrina Wellesley [1847-1933], scion of the Dukes of Wellington, &c. The Hon Averil Houston died 1 January, 2022.

Bill Houston leaves issue,  two sons, Peter [born 11 Jul 1954], and Charles [born 16 Oct 1959], and a daughter, Claire [born 26 Aug 1956].

The Baroness Sharples 1923-2022

 The Baroness Sharples, who died 19 May, 2022, aged 99, was a Conservative party politician, elevated to the Lords following the assassination of her husband, Sir Richard Sharples, Governor of Bermuda.

Pamela Newall was born 11 February, 1923, daughter of Keith William Newall, and was educated at Southover Manor School in Lewes, East Sussex.

Pamela Newall served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force from 1941 to 1946, and was the last woman to sit in Parliament who had served in the armed forces in the Second World War.

Member of the Review Body on Armed Forces Pay, 1979-81; Trustee, Wessex Medical Trust from 1997.

She married firstly, in 1946, Sir Richard Christopher Sharples, KCMG, OBE, MC [1916-1973], by whom she had two sons and two daughters. Her husband was shot on 10 March 1973 at the Governor's mansion in Pembroke, Bermuda. She married 2ndly, in 1977, Group Capt Patrick David de Laszlo [1909-1980], son of the portrait painter, Philip de Laszlo [1869-1937]; she married 3rdly, 1983, Robert Douglas Swan [died 1995].

Pamela Sharples was created a life peer on 18 June 1973 as Baroness Sharples, of Chawton, in the County of Hampshire.


Elizabeth Margaret Bolitho [nee Creswell] 1926-2022

 Elizabeth Margaret Bolitho [nee Creswell], died 11 May, 2022, aged 96.

She was born in Chile, in 1926, daughter of Rear-Admiral George Victor Creswell, CB, DSO [1889-1967], of Rivers Hall, Waldringfield, Woodbridge, Surrey, and his wife the former Katherine Stuart [1889-1972]; and married 29 September, 1953, Major Simon Edward Bolitho, MC, DL [1916-1991], scion of that landed gentry family, of Trengwainton, Penzance, Cornwall, son of Lt-Col Sir Edward Hoblyn Warren Bolitho, KBE, CB, DSO [1882-1969], sometime Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff of Cornwall, and his first wife the former Agnes Johnson [died 1950], by whom she had issue, sons Edward and Alverne, and daughters, Mary Anne and Loveday. Her elder son, Col Edward Bolitho, OBE [born 30 Dec, 1955], is Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall.

Frances Heather Perera [nee Trivett, born 1989], wife of Robert Edward C. Perera [born 1989], descended from the Howard-Vyse landed family, gave birth to a son, Willoughby John Giddy, 4 May, 2022.

Frances is a daughter of Roger William Trivett [born 1960], and his wife the former Jill Collings [born 1964].

Robert Perera is a son of the Rev George Perera, and his wife the former Elizabeth Howard-Vyse [born 11 Dec, 1945], scion of that landed gentry family.

Inigo Christopher Rupert Anthony Cordle [born 2022]

 Madelaine Emily [Maddie] Cordle [nee Chesterton, born 1986], wife of Hugo Andrew Cordle [born March, 1995], gave birth to a son, Inigo Christopher Rupert Anthony, 8 May, 2022, a brother for Romy Lita Camilla, who was born 23 May, 2021.

Hugo is the middle son of Rupert Alister Peter John Cordle [born 14 May, 1959], of London, by his wife the former Camilla Ann Wigram [born 3 Dec, 1966] [Mrs Camilla Cordle, of Newbury, Berkshire].

Maddie Cordle is the eldest daughter of Christopher Chesterton, of South Newington, Oxfordshire, by his wife, the former Lita Calder.

Hugo Cordle is descended from the Barons Bethell. His grandfather, the late John Howard Cordle [1912-2004], sometime MP for Bournemouth East and Christchurch, married Venetia Maynard, descended from the Viscounts Powerscourt.

Hugo's aunt, the former Marina Cordle [born 6 May, 1960], is Viscountess Cowdray, wife of the 4th Viscount [born 17 June, 1944].

Maddie Cordle, is owner and founder of luxury fashion and lifestyle boutique, Baar & Bass.


Twins for the Hon Orlando and Mrs Bridgeman

 Jacquetta Lucy Eyre Bridgeman [born 1984, nee Straker], wife of the Hon Orlando Henry Geoffrey Bridgeman [born 11 April, 1983], scion of the Viscounts Bridgeman, gave birth to twin daughters, 12 May, 2022.

Orlando Bridgeman is the fourth and youngest son of the 3rd Viscount Bridgeman [born 5 December, 1930], by his wife the former [Victoria] Harriet Lucy Turton, scion of that landed family.

Jacquetta Bridgeman is a  scion of the Straker landed gentry family, eldest daughter of Nicholas David Barclay Straker [born 6 May, 1952], by his wife the former Victoria Eyre Gray [born 15 July, 1958].


Fenella Rose Arabella Agar [born 2022]

  Tessa Agar [nee Parkes], wife of Max John Andrew Agar [born 6 Apr, 1986], scion of the Earls of Normanton, gave birth to a daughter, Fenella Rose Arabella, 6 May, 2022, a sister for Rory Mark Arthur, who was born 2 August, 2020.

Max Agar is the elder son of the Hon Mark Sidney Andrew Agar [born 2 Sept, 1948], of Dorset, by his wife the former Arabella Clare Gilbey [born 14 July, 1953], and is a grandson of the late 5th Earl of Normanton [1910-67].

Tessa Agar is a daughter of Mr Christopher Parkes, of Oxfordshire, and Mrs Sheridan Parkes, of Surrey.


Sir Christopher John Ashford Harris, 3rd Baronet 1934-2022

 Sir Christopher Harris, 3rd Baronet, died at Masterton, New Zealand, 22 April, 2022. He was 87.

Christopher John Ashford Harris was born 26 August, 1934, son of Sir Jack [Wolfred] Ashford Harris, 2nd Baronet [1906-2009], of Waikanae, Wellington, New Zealand, and his wife the former Patricia Penman, of Wahroonga, Sydney, New South Wales.

He succeeded his father, who died 26 Aug, 2009, aged 103. The baronetcy was created in 1932 for his grandfather the Rt Hon Sir Percy Harris, MP for Harborough 1916-18, and for SW Div of Bethnal Green 1922-45, who served as Liberal Chief Whip, 1935-45.

He married 24 April, 1957, Anna Karen de Malmanche, daughter of F. de Malmanche, of Auckland, New Zealand, by whom he had issue, a son and two daughters. The son, Andrew Frederick Ashford Harris, born 17 March, 1958, now succeeds to the baronetcy.

 Hermione Rose Nesbitt [née Winterton, born 1987], wife of Benjamin Patrick A [Benji] Nesbitt [born 1987], gave birth to a son, Eddie, 28 April, 2022, a brother for Charlie Michael, who was born 27 April, 2020.

Benjamin is a son of David Cosby Patrick Nesbitt [born 1953], by his wife the former Carol Veronica Hunter [born 1956], and Hermione is a daughter of Michael John Willoughby Winterton [born 1956], by his wife the former Olivia Hughes-Onslow [born 1960], descended from the Earls of Onslow.


Inigo Charles Patrick Stenning [born 2022]

 Dr the Hon Clarissa Mary Stenning [nee Martyn-Hemphill, born 1986], wife of Jonathan Christopher M [Jonno] Stenning [born 1985], gave birth to a son, Inigo Charles Patrick, 4 May, 2022, a brother for Sienna Frances Sybil, who was born in 2018, and for Elora Isabella Edna, who was born in 2020. 

Dr the Hon Clarissa Stenning is a daughter of the 6th Baron Hemphill [born 1954], by his wife the former Sarah Jane Frances Lumley [born 1956], and Jonno Stenning is a son, of Christopher J.W. Stenning, by his wife the former Ruth Draper.


Inigo Geoffrey Hilton Probert [born 2022]

 Georgina M. Probert [nee Brennan], wife of Thomas Henry Carwaradine Probert [born 1985], scion of that landed gentry family, gave birth to a son, Inigo Geoffrey Hilton, 1 May, 2022, a brother for Magnus Oliver Carwardine, who was born 9 Feb, 2018, and for Joseph Ynyr Harlakenden, who was born 29 April, 2020.

Tom Probert is a son of Geoffrey Thomas Carwardine Probert, by his wife the former Penelope Anne Bevan [born 1955], descended from the Viscounts Molesworth, daughter of Michael Guy Molesworth Bevan [1926-1992].

Bernard Noël David George Terrence Kelly [died 2022]

 Bernard Noël David George Terrence Kelly, who died 16 May, 2022, aged 92, was a scion of that Irish landed gentry family of Tara House.

He was a son of the late Sir David Victor Kelly, GCMG [1891-1959], diplomat, sometime British Ambassador to the USSR and to Turkey, by his wife the former Marie-Noële Jourda de Vaux, daughter of the Comte de Jourda de Vaux, of Brussels; and married 11 July, 1952, the Hon Mirabel Magdalen Fitzalan Howard [1931-2008], fourth daughter of the 3rd Baron Howard of Glossop [1885-1972], and his wife Mona Josephine Tempest Stapleton, suo jure Baroness Beaumont [1894-1971]. 

His wife was raised to the rank of a duke's daughter on the succession to the dukedom of Norfolk of her brother, Miles, 4th Baron Howard of Glossop [1915-2002], who became 17th Duke of Norfolk, KG, GCVO. Lady Mirabel died 25 July, 2008.

Bernard Kelly leaves issue, Dominic [b 1953], Anthony [b 1955], Crispin [b 1956], David [b 1959], Benedict [born 1950] , Anne-Louise [b 1962], Sophie, Sebastian [b 1972] and Justin [b 1974].


Arthur Rupert Roland Cadbury [born 2022]

Antonia Jane Cadbury [née Kenning, born 1986], wife of Rupert Justin Egbert Cadbury [born 1987], scion of that landed gentry family, of Northfield, gave birth to a son, Arthur Rupert Roland, 4 May, 2022, a brother for Louella Poppy Honora, who was born 9 July, 2020.

Rupert is a son of [George] Justin Peter Cadbury [born 1951], of the eponymous chocolate making dynasty, and his wife the former Michelle Pearson-Cooper.

Antonia is a daughter of Stephen J.D. Kenning, and his wife the former Janice Rogers.
