Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace Day Tour from Munich

4,657 reviews
Bavaria is famous for its fairy-tale castles, built by King Ludwig II, the “Mad King,” and this tour from Munich visits two of the most beautiful. Enjoy a stop and optional tour of Linderhof Castle; marvel at Neuschwanstein Castle, known as the “Sleeping Beauty” castle with a stop and optional tour; wander Hohenschwangau village; and admire the bold murals and medieval houses of Oberammergau.

Beautiful views at top. Great value and great fun for all ages. Go at your own pace option. Lasts a while and plenty of speed twists and turns. Arrive early as it is not a quick loading speed. Would return

Visited today and simple entry, didn’t seem busy. Got to top and saw enormous, slow moving queue. Amazed no other comments about the wait. Have never waited 2 hours for any leisure ride, anywhere in the world. Given circumstances, I think we were the only non-German guests. Nobody else seemed annoyed at spending half their afternoon waiting for a 10 minute ride. The operators at the ride seemed pleasant, but had no awareness of massive wait. Riders were despatched at different intervals, with between 15 seconds to over a minute between departures. Why, I have no idea! You would think with people waiting 2 hrs, there would be more urgency to speed things up. The attraction itself is great, and exciting run to bottom. However, I would be very reluctant to come again, given the fear of another ridiculous wait. Perhaps a warning of wait would be useful when booking tickets?? Perhaps the Germans are happy to waste 2 hours like this, but not acceptable for tourists who have taken a substantial risk to visit Germany at this time. Disappointing in the extreme.

We had to wait nearly two hours to get on . We liked it though . I am scared of heights and found the chair lift scary. The bob sleigh ride felt safer probably as I went quite slowly. The whole family enjoyed it and if you’re a thrill seeker you could go very fast . It is good to be able to control your speed so every young or nervous people would be able to ride . It would be better to find a time when it was quieter though to avoid such a queue

This ride was brilliant! We loved the chairlift ride up, it seemed much longer than we expected and we enjoyed the quietness of the ride. The Alpine Coaster was such fun. Ideal for older children. You can't take bags down with you, but they get taken by the chairlift and meet you at the bottom! Your bags will arrive faster than you if the queue is large so don't leave any valuables in them.

What a great time! The alpine coaster here is very long and gets up to speed quickly. I would recommend that you show up when they first open if you want to get more than one run in. I recommend 3 runs per person and sometimes running with another person in your car is a lot of fun too!!! You get a discount for more than 1 ride down.
