How it Started

“I came to the U.S. from Argentina with only $300 in my pocket and determined to live the American Dream. I found a way to that dream through empanadas, the delicious savory pockets that are a way of life in Argentina. They come in many flavors, and you eat them with your hands and a glass of wine or beer and are best enjoyed with others and in good cheer.

At Maria Empanada we hand-craft each one of our empanadas to be a quick, easy and delicious meal that’s easy to have on hand for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whatever you’re in the mood for, we’ve got an empanada for you! They freeze for up to two months and reheat wonderfully … a great meal for school, celebrations and office meals. Read Our Story

Our fillings are made every day in small batches, sourced from suppliers we know and trust and each empanada flavor is hand crafted with its own shape or repulgue. It takes a Maria Empanada artesana or artisan folder, several weeks to master the process. Very few empanada houses do this anymore but as Maria Empanada is considered the standard bearer of the craft, we feel it is our badge of honor.
