Fees & Bursaries

Links in this section

School fees are charged termly and cover all the costs incurred in the usual course of a boy’s education and boarding during the term. From September 2024 the fee is £11,766 per term. They are invoiced in advance and payable by the first day of each term.

Other charges, such as those for extra activities, musical instrument lessons, fencing, tennis etc. are invoiced in arrears. A list of the available activities and the charges is sent to parents before the start of each term. They are payable by the first day of the next term.

Charges for insurances and school fees protection are charged in advance and are again payable by the first day of each term. Personal accident insurance is compulsory and included within the school fees. Medical insurance and school fees protection are optional. Charges for incidental expenses, such as taxis and toothbrushes, are invoiced in arrears.

Either a full term’s notice or a payment of a term’s fees in lieu of notice must be given, if a boy is withdrawn from the school. The Governors review the level of fees annually in March.

Entrance fees

A registration charge of £100 is payable when a boy’s name is entered on the school’s future places list. A deposit of £1,000 is payable one year before a boy joins the school. This deposit will confirm the boy’s place at Ludgrove. An additional £200 administration fee will be charged for boys who require Child Student Visa sponsorship.  For further information on admissions, see here.

From 2024 we are asking that the Top Year parents donate their deposit (which would otherwise be credited to the final invoice when their son leaves Ludgrove) to support the Ludgrove Foundation, which is described here. The donation is discretionary.

Fees in Advance Scheme (FIA)

The objective of the Fees in Advance Scheme is to provide a method where managing payments at Ludgrove can be made easier by making an advance lump sum payment.

The scheme is open to both existing and new families. A lump sum payment to the School at or after the acceptance by the parent of an offer of a place for the child at the School will be applied against the amount due in respect of each term's fees for an agreed number of terms.

Bursary Awards

The Governors of Ludgrove are committed to broadening access to the school to ensure that, as far as possible, boys who would otherwise thrive here and be an asset to the school are not prevented from coming for financial reasons. To that end, as well as Transformational Bursaries (to which see here), limited funds are available on a means-tested basis to assist with school fees.

Each year we offer significant support to families. We are continually improving and building the level of support we can offer. For further information about means-tested bursaries, please see here.
